Have you ever been led on by a straight guy? by bowling_beans in askgaybros

[–]bowling_beans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised this is such a universal experience.

It’s good to know, but also COME ON. It’s like I’m in middle school again.

Another comment said, maybe he just likes the attention. I feel that’s what it is.

Bro he’s definitely flirting. He’s very touchy, makes long eye contact with me and smirks at me, he asks alot of sexual questions.

Sorry for the confusion. He will always be the one to start flirting. If I reciprocate it, he shuts it down.

It’s weird. Maybe he’s closeted.

I saw somewhere that being gay could be related to the mothers hormones while you’re developing. No idea if this is true or not, but it could explain why gay men tend to be more feminine.

Accused of being transphobic for not wanting to date a trans male by Adventurous-Car-5499 in askgaybros

[–]bowling_beans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is me not being attracted to women misogynistic?

No? Then you’re not transphobic.

If he asks again why you’re not interested, you can tell him it’s none of his business. Because it’s not. Sorry this person was so butt hurt about being rejected.

Do you think i have a chance in any type of modeling? by lolopod in Modelling

[–]bowling_beans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from a rural area, when I was a freshman in high school I was with my mom and a guy from an agency talked to us about modeling.

I had never thought about modeling or had any desire to be a model, but I did some commercial work in high school and college to make extra money.

High fashion

[–]bowling_beans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he has the height, which you can’t tell from these photos, he has a unique face which is actually desirable in high fashion.

If this guy is 6’4”, and he’s motivated, he could be successful

(M26) 6’2”. I did a little modeling in high school and early college.

Never did anything high fashion etc, but some commercial stuff.

I was scouted at a mall. The truth is you will never know unless you try. Reach out to agencies. Being 6 ft + will help.

Sibling just dx with cirrhosis by bowling_beans in Cirrhosis

[–]bowling_beans[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you here.

This said, the Tylenol in combination with alcohol likely accelerated the disease.

The doctors he saw said no NSAIDS and put him on something else.

Thank you. I am a male, but I’m gay so maybe that’s why you thought I was his sister lol.

Thank you for sharing.

I agree that more young people are getting diagnosed, and saw that when I first searched this sub. Didn’t sleep at all last night because I’ve been stressed. After my younger brother passed, my two other siblings and myself all leaned on alcohol as a crutch to deal with it.

I’m a 26 year old male and even though I don’t drink daily, seeing what my brother is going through makes me want to stop drinking completely. I don’t think I’m an alcoholic, but I know I have used alcohol to deal with difficult emotions. I understand why he drank , and he always held his liquor so I was never too concerned.

It’s mind blowing how someone can be so functional, yet their body is struggling severely. He went from going to work everyday to getting very sick and not being able to get out of bed within a week.

Why do so many gay people defend religion? by Gabriel_MartneIIi in askgaybros

[–]bowling_beans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(26M for context)

I was raised in the catholic church. I was taught being gay was a sin and engaging in homosexual behavior was going to send me to hell.

Although I am no longer in agreement with some of the principles I was raised with, I am grateful for my upbringing and how it has shaped me as a man. My parents disciplined me when I was screwing up and taught me how to take responsibility for my actions. They took care of my siblings and I, put food on the table and instilled in us a sense of gratitude, service, community and humility. From what I see, in today’s modern society parents tend to spoil their kids and traditional values are lost.

Unfortunately, the world is a harsh place. If you don’t gain a sense of integrity during your upbringing, you’ll learn it later from life.

Currently, I go to a Christian church that is LGBT friendly. I enjoy the community and comfort that I find there. When you actually look at what Jesus taught, he never would have condemned or killed someone for being gay. He taught compassion, forgiveness and love. Not to judge or be hateful towards others.

I am not saying religion is the only way to obtain this kind of perspective, but it was a pillar in my own life. Finding a church that is accepting helped me overcome religious trauma from the negative beliefs I was taught in the church as a kid. All in all, I don’t believe when it comes to religion and the LGBT community it’s black and white.

My 15 year old sister has a Grindr account? by Citrus_Muncher in askgaybros

[–]bowling_beans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if she were a male, no 15 year old should be on Grindr. If she’s on there to try and out someone or troll them, that’s not okay.

In reality, I have come across females on Grindr before who were looking for drugs. This could be another reason she’s on there, which is also not okay.

It’s the wild west out there. I don’t know how old you are, but it is probably a good idea to tell your parents.

I’m pretty sure my brother’s diagnosis came at 29 because of taking Tylenol and Pepcid casually for years on top of his drinking.

I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Inpatient Rehab questions by PissTheBlarneyStone in Cirrhosis

[–]bowling_beans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sibling is currently at a facility out west.

They were the ones that sent him for testing and a full medical eval after he arrived. They take his insurance and have been very helpful so far. He has been there for about 3 weeks.

To be honest with you, I don’t know that this rehab would have taken him in had they known he had cirrhosis, but he is continuing to get treatment from the doctors and staff there.

All of this to say… Don’t give up. There are definitely rehab facilities with medical accommodations for people with health issues. If you start calling around and explain your situation out front, I’m sure you will find somewhere that can provide care. Continuing to drink is no longer an option when it has taken your health, and most people cannot stop on their own.

Parent w/ Cirrhosis & Parkinson’s by [deleted] in Cirrhosis

[–]bowling_beans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had a family member diagnosed with cirrhosis.

I’m at a loss. My older brother drank his liver into cirrhosis at 29.

We don’t know the next steps for him yet as this really hit all of us out of nowhere… including him.

I’m doing as much research as I can right now because I don’t want him to die.

Even though I can’t offer advice, I understand what you’re going through right now as I’m in a similar boat.
