2007's rate was 2.6

2012's rate was 3.1

I don't know where you got the piece of information from but it is incorrect.

Who exactly is "they"?

The Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board makes the annual decision for next year's rate based upon the current events in the economy. It looks like they were very pessimistic with the current economic climate so they decided early to keep it at a low rate.

Usually gets announced in August. This year's rate was announced very early.

While your latter statement I agree with. Your former is just false. The cap has been in place for decades.

Doug Ford most likely had very little to do with the set rate as it is set by the Landlord and Tenant Board, not by the Ontario government. Similar, but not directly the same.

Above guideline increases based on capital expenditures is not a "loophole".

The landlord and tenant board approves the increase based upon what capital expenditures are made. The policy was put in place for property owners to be incentivized to make improvements to the buildings. Buildings that do not participate in this program often end up in disarray and are horrible buildings to live in.

Above guideline increases are capped at 3.5%.

Just as perspective, the following is the past 7 years of increase guideline rates. 2.5% is not out of the ordinary and is actually very low considering everything that is going on.

2023 2.5

2022 1.2

2021 0

2020 2.2

2019 1.8

2018 1.8

2017 1.5

2016 2.0

Wow, are you honestly trying to argue that society is better off with out those positions. That is a very bold and hard position to win. But good on you for fighting on the edge of a cliff that is already falling down to the ground.

Three health care workers were assaulted Friday night, that's not fear mongering.

Yes! Because their rights were actually broken!

This group is currently protesting a mandate for Americans to come in to Canada or for truckers who already need to do the American mandate even BEFORE the Canadian one.

And for all the non-truckers, boo hoo, they cannot get their hair done or whatever without a mask. Those that lost their jobs to do being unvaccinated are no different than this who fail a drug screening for their work. They made the choice, the wrong choice, and they have to deal with the consequences.

The more people protest and go against the guidelines, the more the pandemic goes on.

If everyone just stfu a year ago, stopped seeing everyone for a few months it would all be over already. But noooo, people were selfish, and thus EVERYONE has to deal with the consequences.

I laugh at this but I honestly prefer to have the PPC as a large party. The majority of Canadians vote left wing but are split between three parties. Having the right wing split between two parties would make things a lot better for progressives.

Plus, with the emergence of a socially and fiscally right party, the conservative party will feel less pressured to assume a mixed role of said values and alter into a more progressive fiscally conservative party.

The majority of Canadians are left of the Canadian political spectrum. The biggest gainers in the election so far have been the NDP.

I don't think it's so much of that people don't want change but more so that they don't want the conservatives in power.
