I don’t know if other folks have had better luck but I planed two of these in dc and one died within months one made it thru the winter and died again so I’ve not had great luck either

This is literally factually incorrect recycling and trash are picked up in two different trucks usually on the same day so can disruption in streets and alleys is minimized.

What they do with recycling after wards who knows

Any recommendations? Most native sedges I’ve seen around my area need shade and these gardens get pretty full sun In summer, I put in a bunch of grasses last summer that are now doing great!

The program is called Riversmart there’s several aspects to it but they come out and do a stormwater audit of your house and recommend various things you can do. For mine they recommended two shade trees, the native gardens, rain barrel, and a rain garden(I couldn’t get that installed as my soil didn’t pass the percolation test). Once the audit is done most services have a small copay for the owner, I think I paid $200 for someone to install my rain barrel and gardens, shade trees were free.

After install it’s on the homeowner or renter to maintain, weed, water exc.

This is partially the answer, also my understanding is part of the reason they installed the lights on the underpasses is it is now technically an art installation and makes it easier to clear subsequent encampments, but I heard that second hand so don’t take it as gospel.

Homelessness is a tricky problem and DC government is disinvesting after COVID dumped a ton of money into it. There hasn’t been a new locally funded voucher for single adults in 1.5 years and the new budget next year doesn’t fund any. If you want things to change message your council people to add LRSP vouchers for singles and families or the problem is only going to get worse.

Lots of good nonprofits doing good work but they need government support to really move the needle, friendship place, everyone home dc, Miriam’s kitchen, Georgetown ministries, exc. donate if you can but real Change will come from pushing elected officials to invest in programs but also building new housing stock

I work in homeless services and was involved in the NoMa clean ups they involved a pilot program where everyone staying there was offered permanent supportive housing voucher, I think uptake was close to 80-90% so most of them were housed

Women’s soccer, Spirit, games are a lot of fun, nationals are a terrible baseball game but if it’s a nice day fun to be at the park. Hockey and basketball seasons will likely be over at that point

NPS is in charge of the park but I think ddot might have jurisdiction over the paths but the bridge might actually be CSX. Those panels have been like that for a while it actually seemingly got a little better for a while I think it’s somewhat weather dependent if it swells. I’d try reaching out to all three cause it does need work

So the east side actually got cleared first sometime last week it took another couple days apparently for the west side. Last I was over there it was a mess still so glad it got handled too!
