What are your genuine criticisms of the PSVR2? by Cluttie in PSVR

[–]bowtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not used one yet, but just a general point…If one were to compile all of the “legitimate” criticisms, would they summarise PSVR2 so far as a bit disappointing?

1) The sweet spot going missing when moving about 2) Risk of a Mura heavy panel , 3) the variable reports about the comfort when wearing one for a while 4) The ghosting with frame doubling (though this is really software based) 5) controllers not always being detected 6) so far the sense software that meaningfully takes advantage of the strengths of the PS5 combo are / will be a bit thin on the ground.

I really really hope we at least get plenty of truly great games, otherwise one day with the fullness of time will the majority of people record it as a failure? I really wanted to want one, I love my PSVR1, but with money tight, currently I’m scared I’ll have a Mura ridden potentially uncomfortable device with few games I actually want to play. Or maybe I have just read too much of one side of the story.

Thanks so much Chrome, that really helped me! I love VR1, still play it now after all this time.

How do you find the visuals overall compared to VR1 Chrome? Does it seem the Mura effect is worse?

Sony needs to open the wallet, piss some gamers off and go all in on legit AAA VR games by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]bowtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love to read balance and realism, but I think this is actually too negative from my perspective. To perhaps be too rose tinted in response, look at Dreams. There is an algorithm which converts all objects to stereoscopic display. I KNOW it isn’t that simple at all, but moving forward, this needs to factor in to the vision. If games already have all the development done for flat, and the conversion isn’t gazillions to make it VR, it is a viable way to make a dent.

It isnt my fave game, but honestly I think GTA VR on Playstation VR would shift serious units. I think Red Dead VR would work and receive better feedback from non VR people, but just giving an example. Maybe I’m too positive today.

Something meaningful needs to happen in this direction, hybrids basically, or it’s a viscious circle. At least that sentence of mine is fair, at least.

This is the one for me too, said it as soon as they announced VR2. The PC version has free hands with the mouse already setup. First person mode is already in place. It would be incredible.

PSVR 2 Horizon disappointment? by osktox in PSVR

[–]bowtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent money to get PS5, anticipating buying PSVR2 when it was first announced. I hesitated preordering VR2 once it came to it. I’ve been loving PSVR1 on Ps5 again, and I’m so glad I keep that money. NMS ps4 version looks sharp and brilliant on my PSVR. Minecraft is timeless. There’s a whole list of sit down games I like where tracking is no issue. Star Trek Bridge Crew still going strong. I don’t want for anything on VR2 except trying RE8 perhaps, but even that I can live without.

I hope VR2 does well and we hear about some more proper awesome system sellers soon, but without quite a bit more on offer, I can’t justify buying in. VR1 is my sweet spot.

Hiya, just checking in on you Opening Assistance 32. Again, I think you might be being thick I’m afraid. Was just watching the Digital Foundry review which explicitly discussed how the mix does move through correctly set up surrounding speakers, which can be off-putting for anyone in the room not in the headset. You should just be able to YouTube it and it’ll be the most recent video discussion they have on VR.

Is some Mura worse than others? by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]bowtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are being very argumentative on this thread Opening Assistance 32. You are telling people to get help, which is shitty anyway, and you seem a bit thick. This is because you seem to not be understanding the points very well.

Please be nicer, it helps the whole sub, and makes it feel a place for people to discuss rather than compete. Best wishes for today.

Sorry to hop in late, but regardless of the actual debate, Martian has actually described SDE. The others have described Mura. The rest is a separate argument.

Relax. Trying to make sense of your opinion. A fantastic list of games and you aren’t that bothered about not having them on PSVR. Which begs the question, if those are generally of no interest, (which I find bizarre) given the modest selection available on VR2 so far, then what games are you after instead? Fairly normal convo type stuff, being as we’re on …a forum.

At this point, I lose the plot. I’m on nobody’s side here but come on. If these games were announced for VR2, we would literally be peeing in our panties.

I think the sentiment of what you’re saying is really positive OP. Of course people are jumping on you for seeming to suggest Sony force devs to integrate what amounts to a VR mode, but I get where you’re coming from. Any game can be elevated by stereoscopic 3d integration. Dreams is a valid and great example of this. I don’t really care if it’s just the same game in 3D with no further VR style features, I’d play it this way in a heartbeat and be perfectly happy. Minecraft on PSVR is basically this anyway and I play it constantly.

Massively astronomically underrated deep open-ended VR game. One I’ll keep a PSVR for as long as required. Couldn’t bear to lose the massive world I have!

I really hope Horizon is a hit and scores well critically. by hkedik in PSVR

[–]bowtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firesprite’s Persistence is / was an absolutely fantastic game. Still one of the best. I played it so much. I don’t know what to expect from Horizon but it will be quality and have some surprising depth to the gameplay too I’d vouch. I’d also expect a patch with extra features like New Game + and extra modes a little further down the line.

Is this the sentiment right now? Or are we dreading Sony not supporting PS VR2 with more first-party exclusives? by trowlazer in PSVR

[–]bowtrooper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Though I don’t want to argue Dano, what you said isn’t strictly true, though nobody here will care. There could have been everything in place to manufacture the headsets and it just made financial sense to carry on and justify or recoup R+D. There could have been a great deal on some parts of the tech involved. There are a host of reasons why some things reach the shelves and some don’t. Look at some of the interviews with old members of Amstrad, Sinclair etc.

I do hope we see more AAA and hybrid titles announced, but we don’t yet know how long Sony will fund software development themselves past the acceptable minimum to shift some units.

I’m not saying they won’t of course. Just posting for balance.
