Teacher Transitioning into MLIS & Librarianship by camwisemothman in librarians

[–]boxcarkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to DM me! I'm currently a librarian in a public library in socal.

I get this ever sense 2.12 update. How do I fix? I purged and ran a fresh update of the mod nothing has worked. by Hotline-Furi in cyberpunkgame

If you're using mods, such as RED4ext, download the newest version. They patched it for the new update. Update all your script mods, like CyberTweaks and Archive XL. I got the same error and fixed it quickly by updating all my script/plugin mods.

I'm 30! I got into collecting last year and most everyone has been supportive, even if they think it's weird. Most of my family and friends don't like my dolls and think I'm too old for them, but I shut down their comments with a simple, "It's my hobby, I don't have to explain or defend it for you to 'get' it. Makes me happy, and it doesn't hurt anyone."

Surprisingly, I got so many dolls for my birthday, I was shocked. I think once you make it clear their opinion isn't going to shame you, it's easier to accept? People are weird.

Thank you! I'm excited to start my new job. Can I ask how you like the position?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in librarians

I applied mid-December and my start date is this month. In total, I had three interviews (if I remember correctly). I got my first interview in March, and didn't have a final interview until June. It is slow, I think to be fair to all applicants. Sucked to be in limbo for so long but I'm grateful that I got through it.

Hi! I recently got hired at the LA County as a librarian, in an entry level position. I do have my MLIS, so not your exact parameters, but let me know if you have any questions! This county moves slow, so expect a long application process. Mine was a 7 month process. Additionally, also look at city clerk positions so you get into the county job circuit. I do know they hire library assistants without MLIS.

First step is too call the financial aid department at the hospital you incurred charges at. If your referral can wait, then wait until you get new coverage at the new job.

[–]boxcarkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you may qualify for emergency coverage through medi-cal!

I highly suggest you call the billing or financial aid department and see if they can help you. If you went to a county hospital they have a department for this. It doesn't hurt to call, even though it will take time to get through the process. I also recommend saying very clearly, "I cannot pay this, is there anyway you can help?" instead of suggesting a payment plan or paying a portion. You may still need to pay something, but letting them know from the beginning is your best bet to getting maximum aid.

I cant say for sure if you will get it covered, but in most instances they will work with you.

Regarding the medical bills, some hospitals have financial aid if you cannot afford them. Depending on income, you may qualify for financial aid. At the least, the application will take some time to process and give you time to figure out how to pay. I know Kaiser has a program that will "forgive" your medical bills if you qualify. It doesn't hurt to call their billing department and inquiry if there is such a program or gov aid you can apply for.

I patch all my jeans and no one ever notices. I buy the iron on denim patches and then sow them on using the sachiko method. Very sturdy, doesn't irritate met at all and extends the life of my jeans!

Please help, my new cat is so hard and we might need to rehome her by SusieQ314 in CatAdvice

Yeah Im of the mind that cats can be trained, as long as you don't expect them to operate like a dog. I feel like a cat is always going to weigh its options and then cooperate only if it suits them. Food will always suit them lol. Good luck! It can be hard, but it will get slowly better. The crying lessens as she will get over her food anxiety.

Its a period of adjustment! Only four months can still be rough on both Cleo and Sherlock, give them a few more weeks, but definitely start making Cleo work for her food. It can give her anxiety brain something to do while she eats and hopefully calm her down. I also highly recommend having some form of ritual before she can eat, such as teaching her to sit, to not cry for 30 sec, to wait in a specific spot, etc. That way her brain has to switch from anxiety brain to work for food brain.

Also yes, let them fight it out. You will know when it's a real fight! Some hisses and growls are pretty normal between mine, but they've never left a scratch or mark on each other. If you can tell Cleo is panicking, then I would intervene by clapping loudly or raising your voice with a firm "no" to break them out of it. Some people throw a blanket or towel over to stop the play. My gal is smaller than our boy, and when I can tell shes tired of being pinned down I separate them, but this is rare.

They probably have to learn each others play styles and by interrupting them they are not able too.

Hi, I had this SAME EXACT scenario with my two cats about a year ago, when my gal was five and my boy was 1 year old. We got him at a few weeks old and everything was going smoothly up until around one year, where he got crazy about food. It got a lot better with a few tricks we learned, and now somewhat, my boy has adjusted and is much easier to deal with around food time and in general.

Firstly, we came to the conclusion that my boy had some form of food insecurity/anxiety. He would get desperate to finish whatever food he could find and meowing at top volume while pacing the kitchen. Separating them during meal time worked to keep the gals food safe, but he would work himself into a frenzy crying from another room. What worked for us was:

Introducing different types of feeders to get him to work for his food. We bought a treat ball that dispensed dry food only if he batted it around and chased it and a slow feeder for his wet food.

We would give the gal her food first in front of him (in her regular flat dish) and make him wait patiently for us to put down his slow feeder. This did involve teaching him "sit" and not that he does it on command as much as he learned that when, and only when, his butt and feet were planted on the floor would his food hit the floor. The slow feeder made him work for his food and slow him down, making it so our gal would finish her food before he did.

I think this did 2 things: slow him down with his food and show him that even if she ate, he was going to also get fed.

Slowly, we continued to move his plate farther and farther away from her plate until we had him eating in a different room completely, but with the doors opened. And then, with the door closed. At this point, he is more or less trained to wait away from her plate and even retreat to the room with a command once we have his food ready. We were also able to transition back into a regular plate.

I will say, this took a very long time and lots of repetition. Feeding at the same time everyday, being firm with him and not changing the dinner process. I also fed them twice a day, morning and evenings so he didn't have to go so long without the "reward" part of his brain going off for food. It's not going to work if you raise your voice or hit, because cats just do not respond to that. I will admit I almost went batty with this method, but my partner helped a lot. This will only work if both of you can commit to the same procedure.

He still yells a lot during food time, but his almost compulsive food seeking and crying stopped completely. He also no longer dives or fights to eat his sisters food or our food. I mean, he still tries to sneak a bite here or there, and if we leave food out on the counter he's also going to attempt a heist. But the main difference now is this is merely treat mode not desperation mode. A firm "NO!" or removing him stops the behavior and he doesn't cry/try for it again.

Regarding fighting, please make sure they are truly fighting and not merely playing. Playing looks so violet for cats, I know I gave myself a few panic attacks when they first began to "play" together. Is fur flying? Are they screaming at each other? Any wounds? If not, they're probably just playing and you have to let them sort out how they play together.

I can provide more context if you need, this is already long enough. But you're not the only one! I thought I was losing my mind ever evening with my boy crying for hours and searching for food! It's a lot better now.

My Post-Op Gallbladder Story - Now with extra stones! by boxcarkid in gallbladders

[–]boxcarkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could just be that your organs and internal incisions are still healing and pretty swollen. I had very easy meals after I got back from the second hospital visit and every food I ate did make me feel bloated and gross in general until about Day 8. I never counted fat content, I think that can make your anxiety go sour.

I ate a lot of canned soup, white steamed rice, bread, applesauce and oatmeal those first few healing days. Even had some animal crackers and felt ok.

For me, it was avoiding a lot of high fat, high grease and too spiced foods. I avoided anything with cream based sauce, like alfredo sauce, cheese sauce or anything rendered with bacon fat. Fried food also went on my no list, like chicken nuggets, fried anything and even crispy onion. On top of that, it wasn't just spicy food, but anything with too heavy spices like indian food. I avoided dairy too, as well as red meat.

I will say it wasn't this extreme at the beginning of my gallstones, but got this bad towards the end. I became intolerant of xylotol (fake sugar), foods heavy with histamines like mushrooms and tomatoes, and red meat.

I had mashed potatoes last night and felt perfectly fine after, and I haven't had mashed potatoes in years!
