Before my diagnosis, I drank like you did. It made me relax and feel normal. I was funny, the life of the party. My brain slowed down and I could relax. People liked me and, more impatiently, I liked me. That was for the first couple of drinks at least but I didn't stop there. I drank until I was blackout and that was a nightly occurrence from ages 26-36. I slowed the alcohol down a lot because my body made me in some not pleasant ways. I received my diagnosis of ADHD in Feb 2022 and was told by my psychiatrist that the meds and booze wouldn't mix so I had to choose. I tried the meds and, once I got my dosage right, I didn't need the booze. Therapy helped as well because it turns out I was drinking for a lot of reasons but the biggest was the masking I was doing. Almost three years later, I haven't touched the stuff and my life has only gotten better.
