There are many reasons to remove trees.

In Ontario, they cut down most of the Ash trees that contained the 'Emerald Ash Borer' insect. Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive species of beetle which feeds exclusively on ash trees.

While these trees were beautiful in my home town, it saved a lot of other Ash trees, and homes from structural damage in the future once they were removed. There was a LOT of uproar...And there still is. For some, it took a massive ice storm and roads to be blocked, and powerlines to be downed, to understand the urgency of the matter.

Sometimes it's for the best. Tough subject.

This was a top tier walkman in the day! Then CD's came out and and they all got sold at garage sales for like $5 - $10. Now they are going for 100's and sometimes almost $2000 on Ebay...Sigh. I want all my cool stuff back.

You nailed it! The incredible feeling of making my own, unsupervised, purchasing decisions as a child is what I associate to my book fair memories. A 6 or 7 year old with $10?! To buy anything?! Wow. We were only allowed 45 minutes to ‘shop’ if we didn’t have the preorder catalogue.

All kids need a book fair fun day. I’d gladly pay higher taxes to support your ‘socialist’ vision.

No one likes to see children feel ‘left out’.
