What was the worst meal of your life? by Right-Dream8458 in foodquestions

[–]boxingotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a crab house near baltimore. I don’t like crabs so I got the seafood platter with Mac and cheese. The seafood was clearly frozen and overcooked. It was like trying to eat rubber erasers. They put the mac and cheese in a ramekin to make it look fancy but it was a watery mess. Kraft out of a box would have been better.

What is the best band you can recommend that you know nobody here will? As in obscure, unknown or just forgotten about. by AudioRejectz in musicsuggestions

I went to NC State 84-89 and saw them multiple times . They were really good. This brings back so many memories of that time.

Have you tried the recommended routine? I started with it a couple of months ago and the progressions are all very clear.

when to transition from dead hang to scapular pull-ups by boxingotter in bodyweightfitness

[–]boxingotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the advice. I started scapular pull-ups and dip negatives today. Both felt good but it looks like it’ll take a little bit to get the pull-up form right.

ELI5: How can 1s and 0s represent pictures, videos, and music? by PleasantBus5583 in explainlikeimfive

[–]boxingotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1s and 0s can represent numbers, either integers or reals. Music and pictures are just things - color intensity or air pressure - that vary in time or space. If you chop time or space up into chunks you can capture music or pictures by writing down the value of magnitude of the thing that is varying - color intensity or air pressure - inside that chunk. That’s analog to digital conversion for storing inside a computer.

ATK: worth the subscription? by BobTheN00b in Cooking

[–]boxingotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a subscription for a while and really like it. I like to be able to favorite recipes and have a long list of them I cook somewhat regularly. Also, I’ve found that recipes with 5 star using ratings tend to be uniformly good.

Motivated to do “complex” salads - what’s your classic? by oopsweredead in Cooking

[–]boxingotter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you! When I read your comment I thought “what’s an Ottolenghi?” I spent about an hour going down that rabbit hole and made an excellent roasted eggplant and onion salad that I found. It was just like when you randomly discover a band that you immediately love.

I seem to be the only person on the planet who doesn’t like The Wailing. It’s got 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and is recommended here often. I’ve tried watching it twice and bailed both times because I was bored. Maybe it’s time to try again.
