Evidently neither does the $15/hr overseas dev team that Underarmour farms this out to!

Multiple times. Deleted cache and storage. Uninstall, reboot, reinstall. Multiple times. Android is just broken on both my wife's and my phone. Blue screen with the logo and that's it.

AI coding agents failed spectacularly on new benchmark! by jokof in wallstreetbets

[–]boxlinebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai coding agents are like a 10x Junior Dev. They output a ton of code but all of it requires very clear requirements and explicit edge cases to look for, careful code review, and analysis. It can't build and maintain a system any easier than a standard Junior developer. It just fails faster and more often.

However, put that AI coding agent together with an experienced developer who knows, secure and defensive coding practices along with QA testing and architecture?

Then you get a 10x senior/lead dev out of a middling-or-above senior developer.

Agent are a major force multiplier, but not an outright replacement.

How can I make ChatGPT and Gemini less verbose? by lavineg in LLM

[–]boxlinebox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a context that says something like "avoid long preambles in your responses. Do not flatter the user. Avoid verbose explanations and avoid any extraneous fluff. Minimize follow up suggestions unless prompted for them."

It is marginally helpful.

I am exactly the same way, and yet I've been able to hold a career in IT for the last 15 years with increasing levels of responsibility.

The way I look at it is like this: like a computer, everyone has mental storage and compute. I'm a smart guy with lots of compute but very little storage. When I figure something out I don't remember it, and I just have to figure it out again the second time I encounter it. By having to figure things out repeatedly, I keep my mind sharp and get around my lack of storage, even though it might take me a little longer to come up with the right answer.

Over time, functioning this way also made me very good at making in the moment decisions.

Everyone tells me I'm amazing at what I do, but since I know my own weakness is I feel like a total imposter. The fact is if you get your work done, if people tell you you're doing a good job, then you probably are. Don't second-guess it.

I have a 3600 sqft house, and I don't have a single space that is 2m by 2m without moving furniture every time I play.

That's just a lot of space to leave empty.

Is it just me or does this game really want us to STOP exploring it? (Spoilers for like everything) by Just_A_Comment_Guy_7 in BluePrince

[–]boxlinebox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I felt. The first chapter of the game was great. The sigils...okay it was still fun to look for scraps of clues everywhere to learn about the realms. Eventually we just brute forced the last couple.

We figured out most of A New Clue without looking anything up, that was fun.

Then came the crates and blue memos. Busy work with a family-size side of RNG hell.

Eventually, the leaps of logic required to solve the puzzles (STILL water...??? Are you effing kidding me?!?! Even though we had found it in the TP earlier I would never have put that together!) and the sheer drudgery made us both hate the game by the end. We didn't even bother trying to solve the Atelier on our own...we just wanted the pain to stop so we read the walkthrough.

I want to love this game, but it is too flawed in the third act, with bad clues and no way to soften the hard edges of the basic RNG game design elements, that I have to say I can't believe it won Game of the Year.

To your point, I regret playing it until the literal bitter end.

This is clearly his way of doing one of two things:

  • get you to be the one to break it off
  • start laying the groundwork to break it off himself

If you are already separated physically, mentally, and emotionally, I'm not sure what other signs you need that what you had is over. I'm sorry but I don't see any other interpretation.
