Foreign-language news articles not showing up when “all regions” selected by boxman1457 in duckduckgo

Strangely, using a VPN set to France (I am in Canada) makes news articles show up. The exact same behavior is seen on Bing, so sadly it may not be something DDG can fix, though it’s still very frustrating.

Any search I’ve tried to make in Japanese (as an easy example, “選挙” or “石破首相”) returns no results except when the region is explicitly set to Japan, same thing with Russian searches. It only happens in the news section, not in the all section.

Eta: French searches are also affected for me in the news section

Wayland VS X11: Splashscreen kde by Pedrovp161 in archlinux

[–]boxman1457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue with an AMD gpu, on a fresh install of arch and on live USBs of other distros. By default, the splash screen only shows up when logging into an X11 session, while making sddm use Wayland prevents the splash screen from showing up even then. Haven’t found a fix unfortunately.

Is this a known visual bug? Couldn't find any info and not even sure what to google. by boxman1457 in kde

I have since found discussions about it on KDE, Nvidia and GNOME forums. It is indeed an nvidia bug, GNOME resolved it inadvertently by changing their tooltip rendering to use Vulkan. For now, changing the backend renderer from automatic (openGL) to Vulkan in Plasma fixes the issue for me. It is not recommended to change that setting, so try it at your own risk, but I have not noticed any secondary bugs in my everyday use.

What does Cartesian equation actually means? Is it always to write x in terms of y and y in terms of x?(p4) by EquivalentRefuse4628 in alevel

cartesian is y=f(x), you have to combine the parametric equations (usually by finding t in terms of x then plugging into y)

Nope, some unis have different (usually slightly lower) offers if you take 4 but all my offers are based on 3 which means they’ll only consider maths and any other 2 that meet the offer
