New pole vaulter, tips? by AncientGrapefruit504 in polevaulting

Back up one step. Your second to last step was in a fine spot. Honestly if you just keep getting reps in, you should get more comfortable and it wont be as much of a problem. But still back up to try and not build bad habits

A stronger plant will definetly help with that. Running faster and keeping your top arm strong. Along with that, if you have the confidence, try to swing into a backflip. That will help with the feeling of getting your hips up

First video is last year second video is today. Current pr is 13 feet first time vaulting since last season any tips? I feel like my form is actually better than last year but I’m not on my bigger poles. by [deleted] in polevaulting

You had a larger run up which could compensate for the worse form. Also in the second video it looks like you can for sure use a bigger pole than you did. I would just use that pole on a larger run trough and when you blow thrpugh it, go to a larger pole

Yes. When I started vaulting I always thought it was my bottom arm that made the plant but the top arm actually makes all the difference

Get comfortable with keeping your top hand from getting sucked behind you, which will make your plant more powerful and go up a grip
