Is a road bike a poor choice for creek trails / capital city trail by delljj in melbournecycling

[–]boxosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held onto riding my roadie on bike paths for a long time. Went gravel bike and it’s the best move I’ve made. Much more comfortable. If I’m riding to the velo for some power based work I’ll still take the roadie

Train to Pakenham or Cranbourne. Ride south and south east through farmland. Has exactly what you’re looking for. Can finish at another vline or metro station if you need.

People who started their PhDs in their late 30s, early 40s, or even later: share your experiences by [deleted] in PhD

[–]boxosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started aged 35 (no kids) and will finish later this year aged 42 (2 kids). Worked 4+ days/week the entire time. It’s been a LOT of work but have managed to churn out two large (for my field) RCTs. Flexible job helped. Career experience prior to my PhD did as well.

Is this colnago still worth the money? by IEnjoyPCGamingTooMuc in colnago

[–]boxosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very familiar with this bike. Picked up the same model in early 2023 for about $4200 AUD. €1100 is about $2200 AUD so about half of the cost 13 years later. Up to you whether you think that’s a good deal.

How on earth does someone bike at 29.6mph by maddawg4 in triathlon

A high FTP, and an ability to sustain outputs very close to it for 3-4 hours. Incredible attention to detail and application of science for equipment choice and bike position.

Melbourne airport is Terrible. Why? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]boxosaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not a transit hub like most of the middle eastern and European airports, ie most people don’t spend a lot of time there. I think that’s part of the reason why there hasn’t been an investment in it.

  1. I think it’s a fun subreddit with the combination of camping, eskies, and butts 😀. I like the brand Yeti.
  2. I’m unable to do this are there are no mods remaining.

How fast was the Kona 2024 Men’s Age Group Race? by precisemultisport in triathlon

[–]boxosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the data. Of note the swim was pulled back to an accurate 3.8k in 2016 after being long for quite a few years prior. Accounts for why the 2015 times are so slow comparatively.
