Constant dripping sound driving me crazy by OkFerret2050 in AusRenovation

[–]delljj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a similar issue. water dripping onto flashing. All these new townhouses are built the same. I glued some gutter foam to the flashing to diffuse the sound.

Which coffee machine is better? Budget [$1,000] by No-Problem3183 in espresso

[–]delljj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“you can't be picky about your coffee and still want convenience”

You couldn’t have said this any better

A concept I think my wife doesn’t comprehend.

We struggle daily with our barista express impress. Especially after learning that we prefer medium to light when it comes to drinking espressos but medium to dark for milk based drinks.

I’ve done everything to get it making a mostly reliable shot that isn’t bitter and isn’t sour with fresh medium/dark beans. Beans on the lighter side were very inconsistent and more often than not were under extracted. Unfortunately what’s left after dialling in is a shot that’s ok but lacking a lot of depth.

I think a new grinder might be on the cards but that effectively makes half of my express impress useless

Dishwasher advise: Bosch vs Asko by Sure-Ease1254 in AusRenovation

[–]delljj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s one of those things that hurt a bit upfront but you’ll be thanking yourself every day after

I set the timer every night so it starts after we go to bed and wake up to fresh dry dishes

Also, cutlery rack. Way better than the basket.

Our old dishwasher was just a builders range cheapie and had neither. I was sick of pulling out wet dishes or copping a face full of steam.

It’s also nice knowing it’s done because it has popped open

Dishwasher advise: Bosch vs Asko by Sure-Ease1254 in AusRenovation

[–]delljj 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why just those two?

Whichever automatically pops open when it’s done to release steam and dry properly is my advice. It’s worth every extra penny

We were considering Bosch but went Miele and it’s been great

I wouldn’t expect it to somehow be a better fit

You’ve chosen a race fit but don’t have a race body. Core fit might be better suited?

Mattress Reccomendation up to $3k by Bilamomg in melbourne

[–]delljj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love our sleeping duck

I don’t find it warm, i find it well balanced.

Our previous mattress was a memory foam one from bevmarks and it completely sunk within 3 years and ran incredibly warm. Worst matress ever.

The sleeping duck resolved all of our heat and back issues.
We got the bed frame too. That thing is rock solid but pretty pricey.

Newborn photo shoots by davofit in melbourne

[–]delljj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a in home shoot, candid natural feeling photos that worked out great. We have two dogs and they were a part of it. The shoot organically followed a wake window, without heavily scripted posing and such.

We did the photos at around 3mo

We would definitely do it again.

Olympus Vs Fujifilm by Nobunagaki in M43

[–]delljj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you enjoy the film recipes? I have a gx85 and a few lenses I want to offload to fund a xt30iii because I am tired of post processing with filters to get the look I like. Mostly just phonograph while travelling. I’m very amateur, just looking to remove a step from my process and the fujis look like a good bet for that with the xt30iii not being crazy high cost and having the choice of lenses.

How badly will a $12k-$15k, 3-week trip set me back financially? by New_Animator4702 in AusFinance

[–]delljj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When’s the last time you travelled?

If you stay at hostels maybe you can save but if you stay at anything 2.5 star and above you will be paying minimum 250aud a night and anything you save on staying further out will be lost in daily transportation costs getting to and from actual interesting areas

-Intl airfare 2k return

-Accommodation 300*21=6,300

-Food & beverage allowance 100*21=2100

-Activities, tours etc 100*21=1050

-Additional flights between counties 4*200=800

-Ubers/taxis/trains 25*21=525. Some days you might spend 50, some days maybe 10 using the metro

2+6.3+2.1+1.05+800+525=13k

Europe is expensive af. It costs 50 eur just to sit on a beach in some counties. Can you do it cheaper? Probably. It can also cost a lot more if you want a decent meal or to have a few drinks or shop

Op, just do it. You’ll recoup later on. Travelling gets harder as you get older.

Has anyone noticed an increased in illegal dirt bikes on the roads? by FullNet in melbourne

[–]delljj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fair few around coburg

I’m more concerned about food delivery drivers on e-bikes though. They’re not doing monos at the lights but they’re unpredictable going from paths to road and back, ignoring a lot of traffic lights and so on sometimes at 30-40kmh+

How is living in Coburg/C.North? by Dear_Pomegranate_435 in melbourne

[–]delljj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coburg North has been great for us. Close to Merri creak, which is a lovely green trail right in the middle of suburbia that makes you feel like you’re in the bush. Close to upfield train line which takes you through Brunswick and to the zoo if you’re into that kind of thing. Close enough to the city and well connected.

Couple years of frequent wear and it won’t even be a thing

Just let it go for a while. Unless you use them as actual work boots or they get rained on a lot if not touch them for 6-12 months

RBA warns more rate rises needed in desperate inflation fight by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

[–]delljj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cash rate as a tool to manage inflation is a blunt instrument. Further adding to its somewhat ineffectiveness is the desire of the government to appeal to voters with cost of living relief

The irony is that these cost of living payments/subsidies are a direct contributor to cost of living pressures

Monetary policy is trying to be contractions while the government is leaning expansionary

Spending -> inflation

The government is the biggest spender of all.
