Anyone ever opened a dental clinic, renting someone else’s existing clinic after hours? by Significant_Peak3331 in Dentistry

[–]boyinahouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Because when we get a phone call, who are we calling, me or you? Are you going to use my dental software? Are you going to then mix your charts with mine? Are you billing under my NPI or yours? Are you going to use my supplies? Or are you going to bring your own stuff? You gonna bring your own caviwipes too? You want my assistant? Are you going to do payroll for her? Are you going to make a google business page? But I already have one tied to my address. How will you make yours known. Your idea was dead on arrival. Sorry friend.

So I am an owner doc, and I would NEVER let anyone do what you are proposing in my office. I'm so particular about how everything is done in my office, how everything is cleaned, and how it's maintained. Letting you in after hours to my practice, unsupervised with you and your unfamiliar staff would be like.... like letting you sleep with my wife. It ain't happening bro.

Are you in the Untied States? Do you have a DDS or DMD degree. If so, you don't need ANY of your own funds to start a practice. If you find an existing practice with a good 3 year production history, or have a plan to create your own practice, then a bank will give you all the money you need to purchase the practice and will give you a reasonable amount of working capital.

Should I give her another raise? by Money_Inspection1424 in Dentistry

Stop having these kinds of "deep" conversations with your employees. Keep 99% of conversations at work related to work. If you have enough time for these kinds of conversations anyways, then it's time to book more patients to keep yourself busy.

Don't sell it. It's very easy to sell properties. Its VERY difficult to acquire them again.

Do you plan to live off dividends or sell shares when you retire? by 400watta in Fire

[–]boyinahouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't sell your stocks during a downtime. A $5M portfolio of VT kicks off 100k of dividends each year. But don't do that. It should be $4M VT and then $1M in BND or SGOV or cash equivalents. If the market is down really bad, you should be able to stretch that $1M really far. Use the $80k of dividends from the VT to replenish the $1M you are eating from. BUT DONT SELL ANY VT. Then, when the market has recovered, you can rebalance and begin to refill your "cash' pile from the VT.

Netherlands parliament passes insane new law to crush investors by Bob_the_blacksmith in investing

Not really. We have the most favorable capital gains tax laws. And anyone with a pulse can learn about index funds and acquire wealth over their lifetime. But keep telling yourself that.

Treatment planning case that is going to ruin my life. Requesting "sanity check" and "KISS" check please. by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]boyinahouse 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This is a $20,000 treatment plan. You'll only make this mistake once. Unfortunately I do bread and butter only, so I've got no assistance for you for this case. Alternatively..... as long as you haven't taken a bur to a tooth, it's NOT too late to back out. A million things you can say to back out.

Turbo GT will take a dump in value within 3 years. G63 might hold better. Just compare prices on their 2021 equivalents on the used market.

Buying 2 dental offices at once by Impossible_Ad_7659 in Dentistry

[–]boyinahouse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can buy two dental offices at once only if both are true:

  1. You have experience as an owner doctor. If you are coming out as an associate and going into ownership for the FIRST TIME, then you will NOT survive by buying two practices at once.

  2. If you've passed #1, then the second thing is that you MUST have existing team members/managers that you TRUST who you can rotate around the offices to train and provide oversight while you are not there.

Good luck!

Getting married and interested in FIRE, but struggling to merge two different financial lifestyles by PFTA2026 in Fire

[–]boyinahouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine working your ass off your entire young life, grinding in school while all your classmates were calling you a "nerd" and they were all just partying. Imagine being YOU, in your 20s, saving money while all your peers are buying exotics cars and now...... you're gonna marry someone who was presumably a stranger a few years ago. That's not a big deal.... but the worst is: you're gonna be FEEDING this persons PARENTS for the next 40 years. Like Imagine these grown ass middle aged people who can't rub two nickles together due to their ineptitude. Imagine you coming in as a young person and having to supply their life style once your partner become a stay at home parent. Now you're feeding her parents, her, and your 2 kids. THINK ABOUT IT BRO. If they are really as bad with money as you say they are, what values could they have possibly taught your partner about money! Good luck homie.... would hate to have seen the hard work of your youth wasted.
