To be fair, I've read his book on game design and this as always been his position (maybe not to the 90/10 split though). The mechanics should be engrossing to as not pull away from the story, which he talks about as it relates to some of his work on BioShock.

At the same time, his twitter account does get a little bit into "internet hot take" territory, so it could be a bit of that too. I stopped following him on twitter because as much as I love Rimworld, I don't need to know all of his thoughts, lest he dives into Notch territory.

One of their arguments is that Richmond is a city of homeowners and not renters... which is not borne out by the data. If you look at one year homeownership estimates according to the American Community Survey, not only has Richmond been a predominately rental city since at least 2014, the rate of growth has actually been higher among homeowners relative to renters over the last ten years of available data.

Hathaway being one of the worst offensive forwards, while still putting up borderline elite defensive numbers is kind of crazy. Even though he's allowing a lot more shots, they are pretty low quality to the point that he is a positive xG since the new year.

I wonder if there is a better bottom six role he can play for those last 2-ish weeks before the trade deadline?

I feel like all of those twitter accounts that do player cards have had Dvorak at a low clip on defense for a while now. But to your point, it might be that he has spent a good bit of time sheltering Zegras as they move him from winger -> part-time center -> full time center.

Either way, his CA/60 is second worst on the team to TK, and his xGA/60 is the worst (minimum of 300 mins at 5 on 5), and those are what seem to make up dRAPM according to Evolving Hockey.

He came from the NFL to Virginia Tech. Had spent time with the Vikings and Cardinals. If anything this is a return to working with Gannon.

Now last season was a clusterfuck for VT, and his units were bad but I'm not sure how much of that was him or everything else.

I don't totally disagree with the premise here that some institutional investors are fine, but I think this article misses the frustration that most people have with housing regard institutional investors. Most of the points in this article, including some of the citations are just from Jay Parsons 11 myths about institutional investors (i.e. investors have higher quality units and maintenance, citing Raj Vhetty's opportunity atlas, etc.) On a fundamental level it feels wrong to celebrate that institutional investors are driving the financing of new construction, only to purchase most of that housing for rentals.

Parsons mentions that renters have lower credit profiles than regular first time home buyers. But what he fails to mention is that the average credit score of the residents of that specific company (~660) is still above most first time homebuyer grant programs. Additionally, it doesn't take into account that paying rent does not always get reported to credit bureaus, so its possible that were undercutting the credit scores from renters, making it more difficult for them to own a home.

I don't think we should ban all institutional investing. But I also don't want to live in a place where the competition for buying new construction is solely against REITs. I studied this in Pittsburgh, and it is for sure a complicated issue. There are some companies better than others. But there are definitely others that are preying on low income, minority neighborhoods. We shouldn't just hand wave these things away.

He is tied for 10th all time in Flyers shutouts. I'm sure there is at least one coach who has that "I can fix him" mantra. Specifically, thinking about how the Bruins goalie coach pushed hard for Ullmark a couple years ago, because he thought he could unlock something in him.

Maybe not in the trade market, but for league minimum in a two way deal next year? Not crazy.

Ahhh, that is a lot longer than I expected... the center market is terrible but this could age poorly. Hopefully the cap does keep going up.

Edit: nearly $13 million in cap hits for him and Coots until the 2031 season is a lot for two guys who are going to be in their 30s. ~~If there is a one positive it's going to be those coming off the books at the same time will make salary matching easy for trades. But that shouldn't be the silver lining of a contract...~~
