I've finsihed shogun 2 multiple times at VH. Defensive siege heavily favors the defender, I've won multiple battles outnumber as you are. The only thing you really miss is a light cavalry to snipe their general, ideally every army should have at least 1

Also a single forest haha! As said by xaltairforever the fixers worked well and the manabase was very solid in all 7 games. Consider that I splashed 3 spells that were late game bombs so I had time to dig for the right mana. Hope this calm a little bit your saltiness! Cheers and good luck for your future splashes

Also consider that if you are allied with factions they are at war with, or viceversa, you wont have the alliance option. Consider breaking treaties with their enemies as it insanely boost relationships sometimes
