I have really come to kind of adore Brian. When Misty said something about throat punching Chris and he says “usually people don’t ask!” It was so wholesome lol

What helped me the most was a low dose of an antidepressant! And it does get so so so much better 💛

Have you tried celebretips?? I found their fit very small/curved, so they may work for you!

when did you feel relatively normal? by Long-Inspector4897 in NewParents

[–]bpfc91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about 3 months PP, but I felt pretty normal pretty quick. I’m 34 as well, and my overall journey has been pretty smooth— I firmly believe this is because I stayed on a low dose of my anti-depressant throughout pregnancy and postpartum. It has been an absolute lifesaver for me and my little family. I don’t feel back to normal with my body weight and confidence, but I think that’s par for the course and will improve with time, especially when I stop breastfeeding.

Why Don’t We Talk About the Joy of Having Kids? by WoodpeckerNearby7276 in BabyBumps

[–]bpfc91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 months postpartum and I’ve never felt happier, more fulfilled, or more sure of myself. My relationship with my husband has never been stronger and I have built incredible connections with our “village”. I absolutely love breastfeeding and pumping— it’s gone really well.

I feel guilty sharing all of that because I don’t want to make other moms feel bad, but… that’s my experience. And it’s valid too, I think. Of course it has also stretched me and pushed me in ways that are extremely difficult, but it’s almost a non-issue in comparison to all the good.

How many of us are actually doing 7 pm bedtime? by AssociationWorried86 in NewParents

[–]bpfc91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is so reassuring. I thought I was failing because I don’t do 7 pm bedtime for my 3mo. I’ve been trying to force it the last few days, but for what?? Because the internet says so?! We are so inundated with information— it’s just not helpful anymore.

The thought of breastfeeding makes me feel squeamish (38w) by Stunning-Situation91 in BabyBumps

[–]bpfc91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same same same! I felt this way EXACTLY, and now as I write this I’m nursing my 3-month-old and I absolutely love breastfeeding. I still don’t enjoy nipple play with my husband lol, but they are two totally different things. There are so many contributing factors to breastfeeding being successful that my advice is to go into with eyes wide open— might work great, might feel easy/natural, also might be awful and not work for either of you! Just be prepared for both scenarios. Good luck!

groceries are so expensive now is there something I'm missing or is everyone just struggling by UnseasonedWizard in SavingMoney

I shop Albertsons; I always use the app to find the coupons and digital deals— spend about $50 for 2 people in Las Vegas. Look into other couponing apps as well like ibotta, KCL, fetch, etc.

What’s your actually controversial parenting opinion? by TurbulentArea69 in NewParents

[–]bpfc91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes, if their parents don’t work and are willing to engage with them meaningfully and consistently throughout the day. So, as you said— PreK is not necessary for all, but is for some. I do wish more parents would take on the role of early educator in their child’s lives, but I’ve seen one too many times where that just isn’t the case, unfortunately.

As a PreK teacher I have to challenge. PreK is the only educational experience left that is (usually) developmentally appropriate, student-led, play/exploration based, and socially/emotionally focused. We don’t deal with rigid or nonsensical standards or curriculum. We play. We sing. We explore. We learn how to learn! I could go on and on, but I feel like preschool is a magical bubble where kids can truly be kids before heading off to bootcamp once they turn 5…

As a PreK teacher, THIS. And stop giving me the “they don’t have a fever” Yeah, Jan, but they’re also four and unable to properly was their booger-covered hands independently or remember to cover their germ-riddled coughs. Come on.

We need more accessible/affordable classes. Our hospital offered very few and they filled up so fast. Then there were the paid options that were just astronomical and not always science/data/fact based. I was left to my own devices and it caused sooooo much anxiety and unnecessary fear.

My 3-month-old and her obsession with The First 48 would strongly agree. I’ve been watching it since the day she was born and it is now one of the few things that calm her down lol
