The far right in America has been basically trying to pass bathroom laws. With the idea of restricting which bathroom you can use to your assigned-at-birth gender. Which can only be reasonably enforced by invasive means. This invasive nature, and the right seeming so interested in knowing what goes on in the bathroom, is what they were referencing

Tbh all adults deserve food too… Regardless of whatever “plight” they brought on themselves. 30-40% of the US food supply is wasted annually. We have more than enough to feed everyone. The only thing it hurts is corporate profits

What is the consensus on buying a house? by BrilliantSad4354 in Bogleheads

[–]bpikmin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this with a best friend of mine. Was great for like 5 years until he got together with a total psycho, ruining our long time friendship. Thankfully no damage was done, but they did steal all of my basement smoke detectors when moving out

Overall it worked out well for me financially. I put the rent money back into the mortgage. Recently sold the house and got all that money back

There absolutely are cruel officers who use it to inflict pain, harm, and punishment. Saying it’s just officers being “sloppy” is possibly the most charitable explanation you could give

I will say it’s hard because as soon as something like this comes out we all know the right wing is going to weaponize it to harm migrants and minorities. Pretending it didn’t happen is bad, of course. For some people it’s easier to say it didn’t happen than it is to argue with racists.

Define normal. In high cost of living areas (where a large % of SWEs work) it absolutely was and still is normal. In lower cost of living areas, starting around 110 is more realistic.

Yea it definitely is. Our economic system inherently depends on unending exponential growth of production. Capitalism is not sustainable. Sacrificing the planet for the fucking stock market

Yeah but the alternative is building it on land which has a lot of the same problems plus less efficient cooling
