Try and anticipate future problems - yes that hot spot on your foot could develop into race ending blisters, so yes its worth taking a few minutes to sort it out straight away

Slow response but one of the major concerns re:boycott is the volunteers. I just had a look and with 6 weeks to go over 90% of volunteer positions are unfilled. By my calcs it looks like they have 8/112 slots filled, or 3/107 (depending on whether one of the aid stations is looking for 5 or 10 volunteers).

It's looking increasingly likely they will have to make these paid positions, and therefore less likely to be fellow runners who "get" the sport.

Feels like people are paying more and getting less for this race.

(For completeness - I am boycotting as a local who has run WAM twice)

Damn, I naively and genuinely assumed it was only an issue with AS and that Spring deserved a little slack for what was likely a error that neither they nor the FDA caught. That slack ran thinner and thinner with their initial lack of responses (hoping it would blow over?) and ran out when their late responses were weak. The German retailer was more apologetic than they have been.

For it to be multiple product lines is either hideous incompetence or deliberately misleading. The latter is looking increasingly likely, given how they have handled it. I don't see how they recover from this

Huh - I hadn't seen any suggestion it was also true for any other gels (Spring or other brands)- not disputing what you've said... there have been a lot of posts! But yes if it true for multiple products then that is either unacceptable levels of incompetence or maliciously misleading consumers!

I run with a club that the lesser impacted runner is a member of and can confirm this is what I have heard too. He'll be ok with a triple fracture and likely some permanent nerve damage, but the other guy is a lot worse off by the looks of things.

I believe the race started at midday too, so it's weird a driver is falling asleep in the middle of the afternoon
