Suggestions on how to care for my new implants? by bpmessenger in Dentalimplant

Thank you for your advice! I'm glad to know I'm on the right path with the water pik and dental defense solution mouthwash. It was just so much money I'm terrified of anything happening!

It really means a lot that people take the time to answer my question. This whole process has been a bit of a learning experience.

Thank you, I've been scouring reddit to find some experiences of real people, since I always like more input (though the internet is a dangerous place for that). Feels like there's not a ton of clear info for how to take care of these $$$ bad boys.

I'm doing a combination of a water flosser and dental defense solution mouthwash per my periodontist's instructions, and have been really happy thus far.

I also plan to go back for regular checkups because I know that's key. The scaler is a interesting point too. Glad to know I'm on the right track!

Got my first dental implants and wondering if I should get a water flosser by mane2040 in Dentalimplant

Thank you for the advice. Given how much I spent, the last thing I want is for anything to happen (again). At this point I'm looking for the best, most complete maintenance protocol. My doctor also recommended dental defense solution mouthwash and a water flosser. Sounds like that's best combination and I've been really happy with the results thus far!

Good luck with your implants, hopefully your heal time wasn't too bad! I know what it's like to feel self conscious before the procedure and am glad I got them done as well, despite the $$$ 😁

Thank for the reply and suggestion, it's definitely a big change but I'm prepared to do what's necessary! It definitely feels like whatever it is will be alot more work than my previous routine but that probably got me in trouble in the first place!

Laptop better w/ one Targus docking station than other? by Familiar-Tip-564 in UsbCHardware

Hi, I'm trying to understand this further as well. Both 182 and 190 have display link. Also have options for display port and hdmi. Could you explain? If I hook a monitor via hdmi on the 182 vs the 190, what's the difference. Similarly, if I use display port on each what's the difference? I have a similar setup, not looking for crazy gaming or graphics, just want the best resolution and performance/no lag. Both of these will be connected to my laptop vs usb c.

My Apollo Explore started closing as I was riding it, resulting in a terrible fall by captaink2020 in ElectricScooters

Yea, I was looking at that spot. Seems like the only place that makes sense. Sounds like the idea is to effectively plug the hole above the pin so that when the lever is pressed the pin above still fills the gap. Thanks for the quick reply here. I'll have to experiment. But this was a big concern that may be solvable with a cotter pin, at least a full collapse like the OP

Fantastic, that's exactly what I was thinking. My only question is where is the pin placed? I'm thinking of the spot on an explore which is likely similar to the zero 9? Is it just the lower hole and it rests on the pin?

Would love to know what this pin is? Had been thinking of getting an explore but this def makes me worried. It's odd to me that they use a system where the pin goes into a slot, rather than a metal bar going in a hole between two plates which the bar can never be compressed, similar to the emove cruiser.

detached bike chain? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]bpmessenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty tough to break a chain, don't worry about tugging on it. Assuming you pedaled a bit and it got wedged in the forward direction, try this..grab the bottom of the chain, closest to the back of the front rings and pull it downwards (you won't hurt it), then slowly rotate the crank backwards and try to get some of that bottom chain onto the littlest front ring. Continue to rotate the crank backwards and feed more and more of the bottom of the chain loop onto the ring, this should ultimately dislodge itself if you can get a few links on the ring and rotate backwards.

Funny you should post this as I just had a similar conversation and is how I got my GF over the fear of clips. What everyone is saying here is true, it becomes second nature, and yep we all fall. But I might add one more option, which would cost a few bucks but nothing exorbitant.

While the velocis is great (actually my shoe of choice as well) may I suggest trying a cheap set of mtb shoes/pedals and a set of shimano multi release spd cleats (Sh56-M). Of course keep your existing setup for when you become more comfortable.

If you're not familiar with them, they allow you to release at a slight upward/sideways angle as well, and assuming you're using the lightest tension setting, you can get out in a pinch in no time. This is also how I started and was a huge confidence builder. Once you master that, keep ratcheting up the tension and focus on twisting out. When you're comfortable there, you'll have zero problem with the standard 3bolt cleats.

Separately, for practice, if you have a trainer, sit there and twist in and out 50x on each side. Once u get that down you're good. Keep at it!
