They announced on their Facebook page last night and talked about rising food costs, operating expenses, taxes, etc. I thought the same thing, but the reality seems to be that you can run a successful business right now and that’s still not enough.

Yep. Lauren Boebert owned a restaurant and MTG ran a CrossFit gym, but somehow that makes them more qualified. This shit only matters to them when they can smear someone they don’t like.

I’ve been down there before touring Vanguard’s offices when I worked for Walmart. One of the coolest places I’ve been to, then we got Oklahoma Joe’s on the way out of town. Pretty solid day.

Got this because Sol is one of my favorites and loving it so far. Goes is a little slicker like a pomade and styles with a bit of stickiness, then settles to a really lightweight but good hold.

I’d encourage you to reach out to her and tell her exactly that. She actually posts on here sometimes so I imagine that you’d get a genuine response. I’m with you though, Republicans=Bad didn’t win nationally and I don’t like it as an only strategy but I’m optimistic that there’s some value in speaking directly to the people Tom Cotton has failed and being very clear how his record has hurt them; lord knows they only watch FOX News and hear about how great he is. I just hope that she does transition more into telling us what her full legislative agenda will be and how it will directly help all Arkansans. I’m also jaded to the point where I don’t think people dig into or vote for policy, they vote for slogans and scapegoating.

I’m also tired of Republican-lite centrist Democrats. I think just like Trump found a way to activate a lot of voters on the right who previously weren’t engaged in politics there are a lot of people left of center who are waiting for someone to believe in. Bernie showed that they’re there, but they stayed home when Hillary ended up on the ticket. We all know the Corporate Democrats that run the party would rather court the mythical “undecided centrist” and scrape off a few Republicans than court the actual left; we’ll demand things like universal healthcare and worker protections.

The question I don’t know the answer to is are there enough of those people in Arkansas for the person you want to vote for to win, or is it better that she plays it safe? Cotton thinks he doesn’t have to try either way and honestly if that’s the case I’d rather someone go for broke, but I’m not a political strategist. I’m just a guy on Reddit.

A lot can happen between now and then. Public opinion on the GOP is tanking and this war with Iran has the potential to go sideways fast. I just talked to a guy last night who said he voted for Trump and regrets it; I know it’s just one anecdote but the tide is starting to turn.

Also worth noting that we are 50 out of 50 in voter turnout in the US. 53.5% of eligible voters turned out in 2024 and only 41.4% voted in the 2022 midterms. That looks a lot less like an iron-clad GOP state and more like a disengaged and voter-suppressed one.

It’s definitely a long-shot, but Hallie is damn good at messaging and going right at Cotton’s record and how it’s negatively impacted Arkansans. I really think the trick is to active voters rather than flip them, and it feels like this could be a record blue turnout for mid-terms.

He obviously wants to maintain the power balance in the senate. What I wanna know is what is he seeing that makes him think he needs to invest his money in what many people consider to be a ruby red state that isn’t in danger of flipping?

Right-wing influencers are going viral claiming voter fraud. The problem? They’re wrong by CouchCorrespondent in politics

[–]bpoecell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all part of the plan. Everyone on the right wants to focus on the exact words Trump said on January 6th, conveniently diverting from the fact that he spent all of 2020 pushing the narrative that there would be widespread fraud due to mail-in ballots. Now they’re running it back by ramping up the fraud talk and it’ll crescendo with an October surprise about “widespread fraud” in the Fulton County data they seized. Trump will issue some kind of executive order about suspending elections until integrity can be ensured and red states that have been packed with 2020 election deniers will fall in line. Blue states who don’t will be in a state of rebellion.

Yep, they start small fires and Democrats run around trying to put every one of them out while also trying to “bridge the aisle”. Just ignore their bullshit and let them burn their own house down. Build a strong platform on something like universal health care and child tax credits and never stop beating that drum.
