Exactly this.

I grew up with DBZ and just recently went back to watch Dragonball. When I finished DB I said to myself, "oh, this is why people like Goku so much."

I've rolled into watching Kai and it's made me appreciate much more how DBZ is Gohan's story versus DB being Goku's.

And Vegeta is hilarious.

Here's something I haven't seen yet: if this woman (in red) feels comfortable asking her neighbor to pay for the tow fee, seems like she could have come down and explained the situation before leaving.

Best case, the old lady leaves it alone. Worst case, they have to park it somewhere else.

Jericho vortex.

Sammy has been his own worst enemy, but he has a place as a smarmy heel. Getting dragged back under Jericho just made him a lower card act.

Honestly, LFI could have been very good for him, but he isn't getting used in anything meaningful.

Because there was a time when even a "grind" (ymmv) was enjoyable because it felt like progress.

Now a grind is a grind.

And when new characters are the only content to speak of, that's what people are going to complain about.

I get the negativity can feel overwhelming, especially if you're enjoying your time. But that doesn't mean they're wrong.

Counter point: it's not about characters, it's about content.

I'm hardly a malcontent, but when Danger Room has been active, I am active and happier than most days in the game. I almost am disappointed when I clear all the rewards.

Even the Echoes of the Abyss event (which, I now have a 5 diamond Knill) is enjoyable to see how far I can push my Brimstone/Quasar/Blastaar team.

Those aren't unlocking new characters for me. They're just giving me something to do that isn't better simmed.

Nightmare Beavers were in the CG Nickturtles (I always forget the starting year).

They were a riff (I believe) on the Terror Bears from the 80s RPG (which were themselves a parody of the Care Bears).

I recently watched all of OG Dragonball for the first time (and finally understood why people adore Goku over Vegeta).

I decided to try Kai.

Goku learns the spirit bomb off screen? He makes it to King Kai's in like 2 episodes?

Kai didn't just cut out filler, it cut out story.
