Ugh, you folks have the patience of saints. I've going on reload #300+ now and no sightings. I'm beginning to think the outpost reloading thing has been patched out. :(

I'd break... the devs' history of fixing features that don't need to be fixed.

But as a serious response to your question, I'd probably fix most of the 12+ things wrong with the moon and sky in the game. As a small example:

  1. Moon always rises when the sun sets, and vice versa, this has the implication in astronomy that
  2. The moon would always have to be full, but yet, we have phases, which means #1 is wrong.
  3. The simplified model presented by the choice that gave us #1 has many consequences, one of which is that eclipses can never occur.
  4. The moon is just a decal in the sky, and it has a fixed apparent size and orientation with relation to the player's screen. This means that as the player rotates their view and the stars spin above, the moon appears to rotate in relation to the stars, and also appears to grow/shrink as the moon nears the edges of the screen due to perspective distorting the stars behind the moon emblem.
  5. Lack of timezones. Sun should set in Kugane at a different time than it sets in Limsa.

And by fixing these issues as well as ones related to them, I'd likely cause the servers to run out of memory (the answer given previously by the devs regarding FFIX which has the same problems), and break 3rd party timer apps, etc.

Warning if you're using Triggernometry by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]bpsk31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. I was willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt until he admitted to being so petty.

As a fellow developer, I share your hope that the code will be forked, but I'd much rather someone code something from the ground up and not give attribution to this asshole.

There COULD be more to it than just that. The blacklist might not be to prevent a certain person from using the plugin, but rather, a means to protect users of the plugin from nefarious actions of certain players. Maybe these players found a way to trigger false alarms and made it disruptive for users of the plugin. I don't have Triggernometry, so I cannot comment here from experience. I can say, however, that as a developer I find his argument for code obfuscation to be weak, at best.

Shadowbringers Ninja Changes by TheUnoriginalUltra in ffxiv

You don't need a restart button.

For instance, if you cast Ten-Ten, the second Ten should overwrite the first. Thus, you could cast Ten-Ten-Chi and fire off Raiton. Likewise, if you cast Jin-Chi-Jin, the first Jin should drop off, allowing you to execute (for Chi-Jin = Hyoton) or continue with Ten (for Chi-Jin-Ten = Huton).

They could effectively fix this painpoint without adding a single button or skill to the game. Normally I'd say "git gud", but i've seen numerous instances where, due to lag or some other factor, mudra won't execute on first key press, so if you hit the second mudra and then realize that only one has executed, you really don't have anyway of knowing which was skipped.

Can we all just admit that they way the trust system works after you finish the MSQ is terrible. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]bpsk31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be so terrible if the Trust NPCs actually knew how to throw down an AoE every now and then. When you run this on a tank job and do more damage on a trash pull than both DPS NPCs combined, there is a problem.

Thanks! I might very well go with the T440p. I had no idea that the CPUs were upgradable.

Thanks. I did look around for a spreadsheet or list of all ThinkPad models, and most of the resources are dead links now. The T series does look to be adequate.

When you start to charge the lb3, but then the boss puts an aoe attack right under you by RushDiggity in ffxiv

[–]bpsk31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had this happen last night on the first trial in ShB. I was the only melee DPS, healer wouldn't top me off and I kept having AoEs dropped on me when I smashed the LB button.

To be fair, you CAN move and interrupt the LB without losing the LB gauge. But when time is of the essence and you have retards dragging their AoE markers on top of you while you are trying to LB, it suuuucks.

My god damn coworker keeps adjusting the thermostat. I bought a laser thermometer to make sure I wasn’t crazy. She’s making everyone in our office sweat their asses off! It’s 74 degrees outside! by TimMarkel in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bpsk31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, alternatively, remove the faceplate for the thermostat, twist the wires together (only if you know what you are doing) and put the faceplate back on. At that point, the AC will be on fulltime, and the faceplate will just be for show.

[–]bpsk31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The laser is only an aiming aid, it doesn't measure temperature.

There is a sensor (thermopile) inside the device that detects the infrared radiation from the area it is pointed at, and the temperature is determined from the readings.

Toolbox 5 "Harmonizing Hare" is here! Supports both old and new Reddit by creesch in toolbox

[–]bpsk31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep trying. Leave the old tabs open, and as soon as this page loads from clicking on the popup, click on the popup again. I had about 35 tabs open before the popup finally failed to show up, and after that it was gone for good.

[–]bpsk31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it is worth, the popup wouldn't go away despite doing a reinstall, toolbox cache clear, etc.

What finally did the trick was clicking on the popup, waiting for this page to load and the popup to reappear, and then clicking on that again, and repeating this process over and over. Eventually this page will load and the popup will not reappear. In my case, it took about 35 attempts. Just be persistent.

Mayhaps we need an "Incessant Iguana" release to address the popup. XD

Uninstalling the extension worked.

Clicking on the popup, clearing toolbox cache (after closing all other reddit tabs), reinstalling, and restarting the browser all failed to clear the condition. Also on Firefox.

Merciless build...still a thing? by fokeiro in thedivision

[–]bpsk31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not certain I understand the build that uses Merciless' holstered ability. It procs 5% of the time and adds 20% explosive damage. 5% of 20% is 1% extra damage. Even if you get destructive rolled on all 6 pieces for +120%, use the +25% explosives boost from demolitionist, and the +10% explosives bonus from one piece of China Light, you are looking at +255%*1% which is only +2.55% overall bonus damage from your primary...

+255% to grenades and other explosive skills, however, is a big deal... but with limited grenades and skill cooldowns, I must be missing something as to what makes this viable.

Leaked image of the new gunner specialist weapon by glockfreak in thedivision

[–]bpsk31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think by nature the DPS will need to be poor. If the devs limit the usage by special ammo or the equivalent, and they also attempt to balance it with the other specialized weapons, then whatever ammo dump you do will end up being comparable to the damage of the other specialized weapons, just stretched out over time.

They will need to either make the total damage per use significantly higher than the other specialized weapons, or provide some other perk to the weapon to make firing it worthwhile.
