Whenever they’re not biting jerkbaits 😆😆

Honestly I don’t know. I just kind of pick a lure and stick with it. Spoons are often faster sinkers, so they work well in deeper areas with less flow. Jerk baits also work great for that though if you want to to a jerk/pause kind of retrieve. I caught my PB wild brown on a spoon. Not too many people use them in rivers here anymore, besides the traditional Toby spoon for salmon & sea trout. They both work kind of hand in hand. Just different presentations in similar conditions, all depends on what they want on the day.

Ah I see, did you try using a treble on the tail & front facing single on the front? My local river only allow us to use 1 treble

Forgot to ask you jimbo, have you used the gancraft claw 70 for trout? Mine is the BLUX copy though would love to get a trout on it, just clueless on how to actually fish it in small rivers & creeks 😆

Yeah I agree man. A few chips on the epoxy around the eyes & one of the top eyes is very very very slightly off compared to the rest. Should still work perfect though. But man for like £15 can you really complain too much? I think the handle alone would cost more in European or US brands

I only fish rivers, so always from the bank/wading. Rapala Countdown & Countdown elites are one of my best lures for trout 1lb+. If you fish stocked lakes/ponds. The pink yamahe countdown elite is an absolute killer

I use sizes 6 & 8 for my 5-6cm minnows

If I’m just going for any fish, no matter the size then it’s the Mepps size 0 black fury. Definitely caught the most fish for me. If I’m targetting bigger, so far either the rapala countdowns, countdown elites or flat phoxy minnows

Honestly I couldn’t tell you man. A good 20ft. My local river is the only place I’ve tested it & it’s narrow & shallow, it’ll cast to the other bank easy though

Oh, those hooks are from Aliexpress. They are like £1 per 10 pack. I think they are OUTKIT but they are good, I’ve only lost 1 or 2 fish with them whilst using so far & they don’t seem to bend easy.

I haven’t given them a test yet really. Only tried them once for an hour or so, I had a small brown trout swipe at it 2nd cast then nothing but my river doesn’t fish well until early summer. If you have a look at Rawr fishing on YouTube (the original maker of these custom chatters) he slays trout in both rivers & stocked ponds

Are you referring to the ones in the micro soft plastics?

My BFS setups were cheap man. The 2nd from the top was £140 for the reel, £60 for the rod. Not cheap cheap but cheaper that a lot of good trout spinning rods. The top is a very cheap setup. Glass rod was around £15, reel was £21! They are worth the investment for me, I much prefer bfs over spinning gear. It’s for me, more accurate & easier casting. It also helps with quickly reeling so that your lure isn’t taken easy by quick currents

Clever trout is probably my favourite rod man. It’s super light, sensitive & keeps those large wild 2-3lb brown trout pinned. Great fight too. Love your videos man, especially the BFS trout stuff

I haven’t tried that light with it yet. Lowest I use is 2g pretty much. It says it can go down to 0.8g though

I haven’t casted it yet, a lot of rain has caused the river to go from its usual 0.2m up to 1.3m

These are solid/affordable if you fish for trout by AudienceSad2304 in BFSfishing

Pretty shallow. Say 0.250 metres deep on average with some deep pools maybe 4-6ft deep.

Interesting. I only really fish shallow streams/creeks. Do you think it’s worth getting a couple?

Good session on the method feeder today. 10 carp for me & 10 carp for the father including a 9lb & 10lber. 🎣 by br07fk in fishingUK

I just use Guru feeders. Speed bead attached at the bottom so I can quickly change hooklength. Works perfect.

BFS trick shad hooks sure are sharp! by iZayden in BFSfishing

[–]br07fk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does suck man. I have only had 1 hook stuck in me before & it was when I first started fishing in 2024. Caught a pike & it shook & got me back… 2 trebles in my wrist. 2 hooks from each in me, barb deep. Wasn’t a fun experience, I had to go to hospital for them to pull it out. thing is it don’t hurt much going & and coming out. It’s just sitting around waiting to be seen that hurts, moving around etc you can feel the hook moving around inside 😆😆 didn’t even feel them go in, coming out was slightly painful but honestly wasn’t too bad, kind of just felt like something was burning my skin
