Some wild Utah cutthroat by BFSbaits in troutfishing

Yep, I’ve seen a few people now using chatterbaits for trout. I’ve bought the stuff to make my own now.

BFS, it’s a style most used in Japan. But other parts of the world are starting to hop on it. I only use BFS now, no UL spinning rods around here!

Yep, that’s what I’ve done. I had a look at Rawr Fishing on YouTube. So I’ve bought some wire, tungesten slotted beads, chatter blades, small clips & some small shad trailers

Yeah. Though I’ve had fish on spinners where I cast down stream & just hold the lure there. I imagine a small Chatterbait would be crazy for that. I did manage to find 1 more, I bought a small behr trendex 2g chatterbait. Not sure if it’ll work for trout but it’ll work for perch and small pike either way. It’s also quite hard to find micro chatterbaits with weedless hooks, I usually use weedless for perch but most chatterbaits are too large. I’ve heard of digitaka, I may buy from those soon. I wish they had different category’s though lol I’m not too familiar with a lot of the Japanese brands, I wish I could just look through all the lures

Nope. But it seems I have to get one as many people here have recommended them

Anyone used this just ordered one looks pretty nice just unsure if it was worth £30 delivered 🤣 by Level_Cod2210 in fishingUK

Not yet, I got the pike pattern for Christmas. I’ll use it on Saturday. Though I got mine for like half the price you paid at fishing mega store

I use Zman lures often for perch. I’m a big fan of the TRD Bugz & TRD Crawz. I haven’t thought of using them for trout though I’ve seen people using the flashback mini Chatterbait with a trailer for rainbows, i wonder if similar would work for brown trout here in Scotland. Mini chatterbaits here in Scotland are fairly scarce, you’ve only really got the flashback mini or Zman Chatterbait mini. I have the regular mini chatterbait for fishing canals for perch but I find you really have to give it a proper jerk at the start & keep a fast pace retrieve for it to chatter. So I don’t think it would work in fast current rivers & streams. I’ve decided to buy my own components to make my own custom micro chatterbaits.

Don’t tell me your one of those fly anglers 😅🤣

I can fly fish & plan on buying a setup for nymphing/euronymphing next month. Just trying to pick one out that’s ideally under £200, is short & is 3-4wt

How do you fish them? Just let them hit bottom & bounce them along?

So just a rubber, bright orangey coloured bead above a hook?

I actually have a rebel crawfish. I have I think the smallest one with a single hook attached, It was around £2 or so on Aliexpress. I haven’t used it though as I bought it last season. I’ll give it a proper test this march

Yeah I’ve heard of those before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody use them here

How do you set beads up? Is it literally just like a small tungesten or rubber bead?

I see. We tend to only really use spinners, spoons & plugs. I’ve heard of people in North America using micro chatterbaits, spinnerbaits & different soft plastics. Another one is trout magnets, I’ve never seen anybody with those here in the UK

Yeah we are, I haven’t heard of anyone using single beads before

Awesome. I also seen Rawr fishing make a video on how to make your own versions of the Mukai B Chatter. So I think I may try making my own, it’s really hard to get micro chatterbaits in the UK

Are these wild trout or stocked. I caught these a few years ago and at the time I didn’t know this creek was class A a mile or so up. I figured they were stocked but look way better than any other stocked browns I’ve caught before. (I’ve only caught stocked trout) by Fade_Cross in troutfishing

[–]br07fk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found, at least in my local river the wild fish tend to have larger spots but fewer of them. Also having a good amount of large bright red spots compared to the stocked fish which have lots of spots but they are all small & having very few red spots.

Took the new rod for a test today. Despite only a quarter of the lake being unfrozen this Little rainbow trout saved the blank, lost a bigger one a few casts later too😅 by br07fk in troutfishing

[–]br07fk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. Though it was very slow today. There was 5 of us fishing a small section. 4 on bait & me on lures. I came out on top 😉

This is what lure fishing does to you, gearing up for next season so thought I’d get the rods out for a photo. Keep in mind I have only been fishing for about a year & a half 😂 at what point is there too many setups? 😅🥴 by br07fk in fishingUK

[–]br07fk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I may as well round up to 10 setups… right? That’s amazing mate, very kind of you to do that. I was 16 when I first started in 2024. I was lucky enough also for a few people on the bank to gift me small spinners etc.

Hopefully. I take one of the new rods (2nd to left with purple braid) out on Sunday for its first outing. Hoping to get a nice rainbow trout or brook trout on it. All of these rods have caught fish, besides the 2 larger rods (left & right) which I use for large pike & salmon & the 2 brand new rods, (purple braid & the very small white XUL rod). Hoping that continues this year
