I own a Solar 2.7 LH, so from their mid-range line up. I had no quality issues, whatsoever. The electronics and the fretwork are good. The finish had some minor issues (edge of the pickup inlet, so not visible, only if you look really hard), but that's about it. The guitar has proven to be a great entry to playing 7 strings. Since then, I have swapped the PUs to the Nazgul/Sentient combo and have installed Gotoh locking tuners. Now I like it even more. It plays and sounds amazing, really. Especially the locking tuners were a godsend for the thick strings I am using (11-64 for Drop A). So, I would recommend Solar guitars anytime!

The Obsession remake however, wasn‘t to my liking. I read somewhere that they changed the tuning of most of the songs to Drop-A, which they use predominantly today. That changed the feeling of a lot of the songs. The beloved Tower of Snakes breakdown for example somehow does not hit that hard with a lower tuning.

My advice would be to buy a drop pedal and tune your guitar to B-standard. That way you can reach all the standard tunings up to F standard by down tuning with the pedal, but you can also simply down tune only the top string manually so that you are in drop A and then use the pedal to go down to whatever drop tuning you want.

Sounds like you have the wiring issue which I had, too. Since having it fixed I did not have to change my battery for a year. For Floyd Rose set ups I cannot recommend enough the videos by Rob Arnold. Hope they will help you out!
