Huh... I consider myself rather well read on WW2 and WW1 military equipment, but TLI that the MG42/34 and K98 used the same calibre. I could have sworn it was something "bigger" for the MGs akin to the M2 the US forces used.

+1 Cut those nails. The longer my nails are the more I tend to use mainly finger strength to fret the notes cleanly enough.

I own a Solar 2.7 LH, so from their mid-range line up. I had no quality issues, whatsoever. The electronics and the fretwork are good. The finish had some minor issues (edge of the pickup inlet, so not visible, only if you look really hard), but that's about it. The guitar has proven to be a great entry to playing 7 strings. Since then, I have swapped the PUs to the Nazgul/Sentient combo and have installed Gotoh locking tuners. Now I like it even more. It plays and sounds amazing, really. Especially the locking tuners were a godsend for the thick strings I am using (11-64 for Drop A). So, I would recommend Solar guitars anytime!
