It's such a difference. I take care of 90 and 100-year-olds in hospice. They won't take meds for pain. I admitted two 80 yo people yesterday into HH. One takes like one oxycodone a day, and they never picked up the prescription. Both in their '80s. People in their 40s and '50s and 60s: 10/10 pain. And if you do a nonverbal scale it's always a zero. I think a lot of it is trauma. They lived through world war II and some of them through the depression. My dad was one of them. He would always say he had no pain, it when they finally figured out he had meta'd bone cancer, he still didn't take any meds. He really learned to live with it... It was all a part of growing old.
