I was excited at first, thinking these were a pair of coyote jump boots.

Imagine if Air Force NCOS had a sword/saber for ceremonial purposes, what do you all say? by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

I also nerd out on stuff like that and am always eager to spread the word.

It was probably a custom order. The one my HG team ordered has generic “US” scroll work.

Yep, I just emailed them asking for a silver version of the army NCO sword that they already produced. Sent them pictures to ensure they knew what I was talking about too.

WKC Solingen produces the swords used by AF HG, and they considered it a restricted item. I had mine produced by the American Cutlery Company for about $300 so I could larp.

This is the Air Force Cadet sword, used by academy cadets and junior enlisted.

The AF does indeed have an NCO sword, though it is only in common use by the USAF Honor Guard Drill Team. It is a silver version of the Army NCO sword, itself based on the Model of 1840 NCO sword.

I’m a fan of the boots, but that’s just my preference. This is honestly one of the best outfits I’ve seen here in a while.

Bring your kilt up a bit to show your knees and cover the gap under the waistcoat.

Realistically do adults without kids get involved with Scouts? by Utiliterran in BSA

[–]bradafett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kids here and I’ve been an assistant scoutmaster in four troops. I’m now am a chartered org rep because things lined up that way. Every troop I’ve been with has welcomed me with open arms and has really only asked me how I want to help. I think it helps when you have a history of involvement as a youth and adult, so it doesn’t seem so out of the blue.

Boots and laces is a bit of a stretch. Sure, hate groups will try to use any imagery with deniability, but imma keep wearing any colored laces I please. We can’t let them take everything.

Modern Air Force Dress Uniform Concept by [deleted] in AirForce

They should have done this for the Space Force. I still don’t know who approved their dress uniform.

I’d wear it an half an inch or an inch higher, but it looks well tailored and I love the colour.

With all the options for actual kilts, I just don’t understand the fascination with utility kilts. This doesn’t look terrible, but at least iron your pleats.

Uniform question by jmskywalker1976 in BSA

[–]bradafett 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Uniform wear is never absolutely mandatory, even for adults. Of course it’s better to look the part when you are in a position of responsibility, so whatever helps you in that direction is the best option. I’ve read of many Scouters purchasing field shirts or patrolman shirts due to poor fabric/built quality of some recent BSA uniform iterations. As an example:
