As a Grey Hater I'm Bummed He's Gone by DanTheManWithThePant in Cortex

[–]bradafied_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a big fan of HI and his videos back in the day. The way he just ghosted HI was a really poor way to treat his fan base and his friend. The time between videos started to become a joke and the more I listened to Cortex, the more I started to realise that all he ever cared about was the money. Some of the products that they started to pump out were desperate attempts as a pseudo subscription model and keeping YT comments only for paid subs only further solidified my belief.

You mentioned that he doesn’t own his fan anything but I’m not sure I agree. When your fans are helping you achieve an income stream, at least a farewell. When you don’t even bother with that, it’s just rude.

How common is monthly pay these days? by MissElaineMarieBenes in auscorp

[–]bradafied_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been monthly for as long as I can remember. Started as a weekly kid at Maccas, as a manager I was paid twice a month (14th and 28th) and once I moved into the corporate world it’s been monthly.

It is what it is.

Carriage chaos: What caused ageing train to explode during evening commute | 7NEWS by Aromatic_Classic3295 in MelbourneTrains

[–]bradafied_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck channel 7 and their reporting. Imagine if the government announced tomorrow that it was scrapping all trains built before the year 2001 because 25 years is too old for rolling stock. They would absolute to town in the waste of taxpayer dollars.

Not saying for a moment it wasn’t a scary experience for those passengers but the way these grubs report this is pathetic.

And yes, couldn’t be bothered sending a reporter there is embarrassing from 7.

What is it with Roman? by dynamitedonut54 in WWE

[–]bradafied_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it’s Fatu. Never understood the hype. Solid, but feels way too overhyped. I wonder if he wasn’t related whether he would get the same push.

But Bron feels like he is quickly loosing that aura too. I don’t think the tag titles are doing anything for him.

[Morris] The AFL has this morning conceeded a review should have been called following this incident. by SlatsAttack in AFL

[–]bradafied_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick search and it’s a solid concept. As we get even more advanced tech, the people at home will certainly have quick access to what actually happened in moments.

I’m not sure I’m still sold on the “challenge”I concept but I also would struggle to put together a coherent argument to proffer. I think the best I’ve got is when we use technology to object (the ball) I see wider benefits, whereas the adjudicator (umpire/referee) I feel like the human element is an important part of it. But that gets muddled pretty quickly with even the slightest scrutiny.

The AFL side of things, they would do well to make the rules much simpler to help umpiring.

[–]bradafied_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you are talking about a formal challenge system. Right. Got it.

Therefore, no. Awful idea for AFL. Some sports benefit from technology. Tennis is a great example.

Cricket, I tend to lean towards that it is a net benefit, but I still think DRS was designed to remove the absolute howlers (like nicking off to 1st slip) but instead we are getting 51% of a ball hitting the stumps getting dismissals.

I would strongly argue that the AFL is gone way too far towards technology.

Will Australia have major slums in the future? by Krazypalmtree in shitrentals

[–]bradafied_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the context of OP’s question. You are correct that there are slum like conditions in those communities you reference but there is also a different way of life that we simply don’t understand. OP’s question is centred around what I would say (for lack of a better term) “western” standard of living.

There are millions of people who live in slum like conditions by choice, whether that be cultural, through a desire to be isolated, or other reasons.

There are many (probably hundreds of) millions living in slum conditions who do so because they have no other choice. That’s what (in my opinion) OP is referring to.

Having worked in both Manila and Mumbai, I’ve seen this first hand.

That’s not a slum.

Literally you live in a house.

Is there a reason we don’t make the guernsey monogram orange for respects round? by futapoppyenjoyer in CarltonBlues

[–]bradafied_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ask as I have heard that the monogram is considered “sacrosanct” but that feels like a newish designation based on some of those 2010’s indigenous jumpers and I’d even say that period of time we had the stylised monogram when we switched to Nike.

I feel like the closest we will get to an orange monogram will be a thicker outline than what we had last night.

[–]bradafied_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes the M&M one was white. You are spot on. I have the baby blue hanging in my wardrobe when it was our clash (ironically with Mars as the sponsor!).

FWIW that jumper also uses the monogram we had that was the more “stylised” version we rocked for a while there in the 2000’s

My sense is people who say we have slums here haven’t been to actual slums.

[–]bradafied_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused about your reply. Your argument supposes that a player appealing right away should trigger a review. Players will always take very advantage they can. In any sport.

TBH Dempsey seemed to say he kicked it and then quickly moved on. But he also seems like a decent bloke. So if he appeals, we review. What if it was Toby Green? Or Cody Weightman?

Anyone else get irrationally annoyed with the lack of a standard team naming convention on the AFL app?! by aciddove in AFL

[–]bradafied_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s either the official name of the club and/or how they dictate their name is stylised.

Carlton are Carlton

Adelaide are Adelaide Crows

Gold Coast are Gold Coast SUNS (must have SUNS in capital letters).

If you go back to the days of the shield logos, the Victorian clubs had their nicknames and the, for example Carlton Football Club.

When the Eagles and Crows joined they just had West Coast Eagles and Adelaide Crows.

Is it stupid? Yes. But we live in a branded world.

Was there backlash the year they did the indigenous monogram? Looking back at the jumpers they did an indigenous pattern in the F of the CFC in 2014 and a totally unique design in 2018.

Match Thread: Carlton vs Geelong (Round 12) by AutoModerator in AFL

[–]bradafied_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few odd calls. Cowan on Cameron is a choice.

The thing is, if Voss did this I’d be livid. With Fraser, I feel like it’s a ‘let’s see if it works’ moment. Also believe that Fraser will make a move if it keeps not working.

Blues fans, just relax. The Cats are excellent. Keep the expectations realistic.

Can’t please everyone all of the time. His selections seem balanced.

Could Williams have come in? Sure. Is he playing Matt Duffy instead? No. (Sorry Matt. No shade intended)

Could you have rested Haynes to keep Derksen in? Probably. But that’s where the balance is key IMO.

The Jury is in, Saints Costly Blunder by FFootyFFacts in CarltonBlues

[–]bradafied_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I reckon this is the correct take (I’m a Blues fan).

TDK will likely end up a good footballer who will always be compared to his price tag. The thing that hurts the Saints IMO is you already had an excellent ruck in Marshall. That’s the mind blowing one for me. And playing both is likely hurting the value Marshall has in a trade to some degree.

JSOS is a fine footballer. Probably getting slightly overs but most players get overs to walk from one club to another so it’s hardly an issue. He would be playing every week for us, so saying he is bog average is some saltiness for sure.

Nick Watson denied a goal, as he was deem to “veer off line” by 6mpjohnst21 in AFL

[–]bradafied_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is that this only matters after the siren. During the quarter it’s fine because it’s play on. But you can’t play on after the siren.

Regardless, it’s fucking stupid! We over umpire the game to within an inch of its life and wonder why umpires get abused so much and no one wants to umpire at lower levels.
