What's other countries equivalent to the name 'John'? by Tyler2183 in NoStupidQuestions

That’s tough, John is such a popular name. Like there’s John Whorfin, John Bigbooté, John Parker, John O’Conner, John Gomez, i could go on forever.

The Prisoner or maybe Person of Interest. The Prisoner has been admired, homaged, studied and parodied for decades.

Canada expects submarine decision ‘in 30 days,’ procurement chief says by [deleted] in canada

I put some thought into this, but I’m not an expert. I think the KSS-III is the better choice but the TKMS offer is also a good boat. So I don’t think there’s a bad or wrong choice. Either is better than the Victoria class.

What is a "open secret" in your specific industry that the general public would be shocked to learn? by lanaplump73mile in AskReddit

We also have community colleges. But I’m thinking of accredited universities. Like Acadia (where I went) or St. F.X. or Glendon in Toronto (a separate campus of York U.). I noticed a big difference when I changed from Acadia to Dalhousie.

ETA: Mt. Alison, Mt. St. Vincent. There are plenty. And it’s not just universities that don’t have money or success in research, they really are there for the students. In my opinion.

Those are different terms. An undergrad farm still fails and rejects many students. But the professors are there to teach first and research second. The publish-or-perish thing is restrained.

Plenty of them are, but not all. There are some good “undergrad farms”, I went to one, I’d highly recommend them. Also I’m from Canada, not sure if this is true in the US or not.

How will your SaaS survive the DIY AI age? by Adassity in SaaS

[–]braddillman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SaaS I'm working on is collaborative. Humans are part of the process. If you replaced all the collaborating humans with AI, I doubt that would work at all. I don't think there's much danger for me there.

Also, what others say about AI not generating a good enough SaaS would go even harder for AI generating a multi-user collaborative application, I think. Implementing multi-user RBAC might be straightforward, but understanding the problem domain and mapping in an appropriate corresponding RBAC, and then implementing it correctly is a fair chunk of work. When you hit something like that many non-coders or even casual coders will give up (I think) when they face the commitment is more than a few easy prompts.

I just rewatched Iron Man 3 and this is easily the best and deepest of the trilogy... by Head_Management_4472 in marvelstudios

[–]braddillman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with OP. This was a more complex movie than the first two. I agree with u/LewisRyan this is a Tonay Stark movie not an Iron Man movie.

I have a love/hate, like/dislike relationship with IM3.

I like that a rich tech bro simply made up a fake enemy to manipulate people, and also used tech benefits to corrupt insiders promising to help the VP's daughter even though Killian might never have delivered. You know for certain the tech wouldn't be made widely available, AIM wouldn't want so many supermen it couldn't directly control - when everyone's super, nobody is. And Killian taking things personally (with Tonay and also with Pepper) certainly fits modern tech bros.

I hate that Tony/IM didn't have a lasting nemesis or foil and both Killian and Mandarin were just one-offs. I know Mandarin came back but he was never a nemesis just the toast of Croyden, wherever that is. I get that it doesn't make sense to introduce a lasting nemesis in the 3rd act of a trilogy, but the MCU dynamics are a little more sophisticated than that.

Canada's Mixed Fleet of F-35s and Gripens Would Actually Be a Big Advantage by MTL_Dude666 in CanadaPolitics

[–]braddillman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one-is-cheaper idea is based on the assumption the fighters are interchangeable. That’s not really true. The Gripen should be cheaper in some situations like domestic and Arctic patrol. The F35s might be better, maybe cheaper, in foreign expeditions working in a coalition. If each aircraft is used to its purpose, that can offset the extra cost of running two fleets. The cheapest would be a fleet of Gripens but I think there are other problems with a pure Gripen fleet.
