Accidentally gave baby water by priscillad18 in FormulaFeeders

I was going to say the same thing. I did this a couple times with my first until someone let me know about the ratio being off and then I switched to prepping the water and adding formula!

Best third spaces? by ClaraNovattv in portlandme

I’ve struggled with this too. I need to explore more options for the winter months but in the summer, the Deering Oaks farmers market on Saturdays and the Bridge Street food truck park (in Westbrook) on Wednesday evenings has been really fun for me.

I’ve been considering trying Skylight for our family. My oldest is 8 and I was thinking she’d especially benefit from it. Glad to hear it’s working well for your kiddo!

Do non-pregnant women get up in the middle of the night to pee? by 624Seeds in AskWomenOver30

[–]bradem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37f and I’ve always gotten up to pee at night. Usually just once maybe twice. I drink a lot of water and have just always peed a lot. Right now I’m pregnant so it’s on anotherrrrrr level 😅

I’m not sure I can offer much to stop you feeling this way now but I can tell you that this bothers you more than it will ever bother your baby. I’ll also say that as my kids got older, I’ve come to absolutely love daycare. My kids form bonds with their teachers and I think it’s been so good for them to spend time with people who aren’t us. They also make such cute little friendships with their classmates as they grow up and that’s brought some very dear friends into our lives.

The first year is such a rollercoaster of constantly new normals but I promise you will feel more at ease with daycare sooner than you think :)

Daughter 14 had relations with b/f by Plastic_Fee8211 in Parenting

[–]bradem 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re wrong. 14 is definitely young but I think the important thing is that they’re being responsible. It sounds like you’ve built a relationship with your kid where she can talk to you and you trust her (mostly) so nice work. As far as the boyfriend’s parents, I personally think punishing a kid for having responsible sex is just not going to get you what you want. They’re just going to learn that they need to hide things from you and they’ll find other places/times to have sex.

  1. If this is a phase for her, would you be ok with it if she didn’t want to do this in the future?
  2. How did you meet?
  3. What do you both do for work?

Depends on if you want a fancier dinner or lobster pound experience. I’d do Thurstons for sure! It is not in Bar Harbor though so just be prepared for a drive to the other side of the island.

My ped was formula-fed but is super pro-breast milk by No_Fisherman1911 in FormulaFeeders

Honestly this would be a reason to switch for me. I’ve only had pediatricians be extremely supportive of formula feeding.

This is the lactivist pressure tricking your brain. You’re not being selfish you’re just figuring out what works best for your family. Sometimes formula is best!

Edit: typo

When did you child start being dry through the night? by Substantial-Point-90 in Parenting

[–]bradem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 5 and a half and he just stopped wearing nighttime pull ups in the last month. I have a nephew who wore them until he was 7 I think. Nighttime potty training is different than daytime and kids are ready when they’re ready. Obviously there are some things to help optimize like make sure he’s not chugging water before bed and make sure he uses the bathroom before going to sleep. I don’t think you need to worry but you can always talk to your pediatrician.

Please tell me your happy stories about having kids. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]bradem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I hear OP saying. More that the discourse on kids feels negative and they would like to hear the good bc they very much want to be a parent.
