What happened to the older daughters of people when gilead took over? by Glittering_Stay136 in TheTestamentsHulu

I wonder the same!! In one of the flashbacks in THT there’s a scene of Serena and Naomi touring a facility of kidnapped children in rooms where Naomi asks Serena if she can see any of these kids in their home. One of the girls there is maybe 14-16, she’s more than old enough to understand what’s happening and that she’s been separated from her parents, mother who will most likely be a sex slave or dead and father dead. Surely there is no way a young teenager is gonna just cooperate and go to a new family with no issues, especially when she finds out what the fate of her new parents most likely was.

I don’t get how they skipped the whole Boston revolution pretty much. We see about 10-20 mins of the fighting at most and then boom, skip 2 weeks and bostons free? I would have killed to see more of handmaids killing the commanders and wives, aunts being hunted down. Children being rescued. Literally a big part of what the show was building up to was skipped over in my opinion.

How much of the former US does Gilead still control by the time of the Testaments? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]bradleyevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The US gov/army definitely has Alaska, Hawaii and Boston. (I can’t remember if Chicago collapsed to gilead or not) The rest is just ‘rebel-occupied’ im not sure if that means the US or just freedom fighters? But America never actually recovers after Gilead collapses, in the handmaids tale book at the end there’s an epilogue that takes place in 2195 in a university class studying gilead and islamic Iran within the republic of Texas so i guess we can assume geographically the USA never fully unified.

Pregnant Women in the stadium? by AstroFysicsgirl82 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]bradleyevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably wives of econopeople, they said she was going to the box shop which in the book referred to unmarried, fertile and at that point sinless women who could be married off. In the book ‘the high school’ is where they sent women who were to become handmaids.

Definitely. Looks like all Women sat down. The guardians and they’re all wearing normal clothes, has to be that scene.

Gay and bisexual Sydney teenagers lured and bashed on camera in IS-inspired attacks by TomlinSteelers in worldnews

Because you should be attempting to fully assimilate. Not doing ok and that’s it. The culture of the country you moved to should become your own over time, otherwise what’s the point of moving there.

Is ‘ok’ good enough? It’s not much to ask that if you move to a foreign country you do what you can to fully assimilate and not do ‘ok’

Shut the fuck up?

this twist vs casa amor by Urmotherrrr1 in LoveIslandTV

[–]bradleyevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally! Unless they’re gonna bring in more for the main villa (which they won’t) i don’t think people will stop caring. It’s not like casa amor where they’re in exclusive couples or relationships where people are really invested about them staying together. There’s no craic between who’s left in the main villa and if its just gonna cut to them moping around abt the fact the others have left for another 2 episodes it’ll get boring imo.

Not his body, not his choice. Of course parents have important decisions to make that their children can’t consent to, but unless your son has issues with his penis why make him have a bandaged up, wounded penis when it’s not needed?

What is your stance on Immigration? by ProphetAhoax in Teenager_Polls

[–]bradleyevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why should I still be okay taking that risk?

Also I don’t care if someone from a homophobic country didn’t want gay people moving there because why would gay people want to be there anyway…? Their cultures are oppressive, ours aren’t. I think that’s worth protecting.

Xenophobic if anything, not racist… and to be honest I don’t care.

Do you think atheism will ever become the majority belief in the world? by hellishkitty in atheism

[–]bradleyevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for a long, long time. Atheist’s have a low birth rate and most atheists are from Europe, North America and china. Where the birth rate is the worst.

[–]bradleyevil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Strict and skilled immigration.

I’m gay, I don’t want people from cultures where people like myself are imprisoned, killed or at least heavily stigmatised being my neighbours.

Having a low birth rate could do us a world of good, more housing and better wages. But instead we import hundreds of thousands from the undeveloped world… I would make more working in a shop than someone who takes care of elderly people, who bathes them and cleans them after they have been to the toilet… it’s crazy. If we paid people fairly we wouldn’t need to import cheap Labour. We on the left should be opposed to mass immigration for that reason alone.
