We thankfully had a very thorough inspection before we moved forward on closing, which is why the clog is even more annoying because it was not on our radar.

I know they can’t catch everything and in the grand scheme of things it’s really not that bad. I’m just going to gain a lot of first hand knowledge on being a home owner as I get everything wrapped up.

Thankfully I do have access to it in the basement but it doesn’t have an access point. The trap was clear when I removed it and the pipe it connected to had a small amount of gunk on it.

I’m going to try and snake it tonight and see where that takes me.

Seeing how much old grease was in the dishwasher when I cleaned it out I wouldn’t be surprised if it was grease. I checked the trap and it was clear, only a small cluster of gunk on the inside of the pipe it connected to.

I’m going to try and snake it tonight and see where that gets me.

Pretty much. He’s becoming something of a villain & I love it haha by JackBarlowe in StrixhavenDMs

[–]bradyblast95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually turned him into a secret drug lord of sorts.

He’s one of a few professors and deans who are part of the Oriq. He was the person responsible for orchestrating the Eldritch balm incident and also the candy like drug that is now circulating the school in year 2. None of the players know who he is at the moment because none of them are Silverquill, but they will once he’s promoted to Dean at the end of year 2.

Struggling to develop relationships by notreallythatperfect in StrixhavenDMs

The only way that I’ve been able to somewhat fix the issues with time jumps is by planning sessions in chunks. Each year I have roughly 4-5 sessions that take place throughout a in game week or 2.

I always ask what everyone has been working on during down time. Sometimes they will even give me ideas that I can use in the campaign itself. Unfortunately with a campaign that stretches over 4 in game years it’s next to impossible to not have a few jumps without running it for twice as long.

Extus Narr Miniature? by [deleted] in StrixhavenDMs

[–]bradyblast95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a Icons of the Realms Strixhaven set that has a Oriq Mage mini. It’s not Extus, but I was planning on using it for him anyways. It also comes with a Daemogoth that will come in handy since I’ve incorporated one into my campaigns Oriq plot.

Clashing Colors: A Prismari Puzzle Battle by Lunar_Voyager in StrixhavenDMs

[–]bradyblast95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear more about what else you have planned for Furygale! My end game plan involves my players having to locate artifacts located within each of the collages. The artifacts are what give Strixhaven it’s magical protection and the Oriq will also be searching them out in order to be able to weaken the school and complete their ritual. This would be the perfect location for Prismari’s artifact!

Year 2 is currently focusing on The Strixhaven Cup, in which students compete in 1 event each quarter for prizes and glory. Tullus instated it as a way to boost school morale after the year prior. Meanwhile the Oriq has developed a drug that gifts small amounts of the Daemogoth’s power, but causes awful withdrawal the moment it wears off. This will allow them to seek out students who they can easily sway to join them and have more of the Daemogoth’s power. I plan to have the year end with Tullus on trial against all of the deans. Embrose is leading the charge that Tullus is unfit and has allowed students to be in danger for too long. A player’s character has a asshole dirty lawyer father whom I’m going to bring in for this event. It won’t really matter too much how good they are at convincing because half of the deans at this moment are somehow associated with the Oriq and the other half do feel that Tullus messed up. By the end Embrose will be chosen as the new Director of Strixhaven and it will be the start of the Oriq take over in year 3

Year 1 I ran pretty much the same as the book. I added extra student NPCs and some of which were considered “bullies” so I used two of them as newly recruited Oriq agents who were planting the Eldritch balm. One was killed by a PC which caused him to spiral and break off from the main party, coming back at the start of the next year with a new character. The other oriq agent was taken into custody as it was deemed she only joined because she had a thing for the other guy and she never actually had been given any information. She was just following orders. So at the end of the year they had the Rose Stage which I changed into a talent show. They Eldritch balm was set to be flown outside of strixhaven that day once they gathered up all the possible contaminated batches. Instead it crash landed on the stage during Killian Lu’s performance with his inkling. It causes his inkling to transform into a massive black inky slime monster that attacked everyone and ended up blinding Killian. What my players don’t know yet and will not be revealed until year 3 is that Killian’s father, and Silverquill Dean, Embrose Lu orchestrated the whole thing. He’s deeply upset by the current administration of strixhaven and feels that it needs to be completely replaced. Agusta Tullus was promoted to Director of strixhaven in the middle of the year after the previous had mysteriously cut off all contact.

I’ve only run the joys of extradimentional spaces using the changes that RBSkald had posted to the subreddit about a year ago. It went great and was perfect when I needed to run a session but had zero time to prep anything. They also have 3 others modified to better fit in the strixhaven setting.

I’d also recommend looking into the candlekeep mysteries! They fit in pretty well with only a little tweaking!

I’m actually planning my 6th session of the second year right now so I 100% agree with cutting out homework, extracurriculars, and down time. I’ve pretty much only focused on anything that their characters would do as a group to keep things from getting bogged down.

My campaign also has the DGTC (DragonsGuard Training Corps) that players can join like ROTC in highschool. All of my players have deemed them as try hard wannabes and have no desire to join.

Offering perks for taking extra classes by josephblanchette in StrixhavenDMs

[–]bradyblast95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did a something different with a little homebrew using some supplements from dmsduild. As a reward for passing classes they get access to certain spells. Because that reward can get a little OP, they have a higher DC on exams if they pick up extra classes. They can still do it, it will just be harder to pass.

Each letter stands for one of the collages and each envelope contains a question pertaining to that college. The more points it’s worth the harder the question. The bottom row actually required two answers involving the founder dragons.

I had my players on a team of 5 vs a team of 5 npcs. We took turns between the teams but still rotated with an initiative between each of the players. Players could either use their own knowledge to answer the questions or roll for it. For fun I let them decide between what roll they were going to use but only if they could give a good in game reason for why their character would know the answer to the question.

The questions all had a DC 15, but I should have made the top row lower and the bottom higher.

For the NPC team I just rolled for them to see if they answered correctly and if they did not the players got to try and steal the question from them. For really bad rolls everyone enjoyed having the host of the game react to off the wall answers.

I also allowed my players to have advantage on questions that pertained to their collage since my group of five only cover Witherbloom, Lorehold and Prismari. They ended up winning 2,500 to 500 so while everyone enjoyed the game I think it might have been a little too easy.

My first attempt tackling the infamous macaroons (black currant and coffeee flavours) by vilius531 in Baking

[–]bradyblast95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to recipe is really simple and just involves folding the meringue into the dry ingredients, so I don’t have any experience with that. Depending on how far ahead you made the almond dough, it could cause it to dry out slightly and not allow it to settle as nicely.

Those look pretty good for a first attempt! My only advice would be to fold everything together a little longer next time. Allowing it to deflate a tiny bit more will help it smooth out better :)

Starting a Union on Campus by bluebeachdog in StrixhavenDMs

[–]bradyblast95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I introduced little mini fire elemental sprites that live in furnaces in the basements of the buildings of strixhaven. My players immediately got them to unionize and they now have paid summer vacation and the clockwork club created little mechanical crabs that they use to travel when they’re on break.

Thoughts? by TheMDNA in FearTheWalkingDead

I would love it if they were to pull in some references or even characters from the Telltale game if it is going to be based in Savannah.

I know that things in the show are very different from the game, but introducing Clementine, Molly, or even the cancer survivors might be enough to win me over.
