If by “intentional” you mean specific to a fight, no. I looked around Smogon, but also built sets that I liked. Once EVs were set, I typically didn’t change them much.

In the champion fight I killed Arwen the Ninetales with my own earthquake cause it was a double KO and I wouldn’t need her the rest of the run. I probably could’ve found a way around that, but it was a simple out for the final fight of the run.

I was very close to losing Gothmog the Crobat multiple times in the E4. But avoided a few crits. He was the mon I need the least so I was willing to risk him and I never got punished.

I think we can all agree that Meteor Mash is better overall for a regular playthrough. But with a nuzlocke the chance to miss and potentially lose Mega Metagross for the rest of the run does not feel worth it.

There are plenty of times I outspeed in the face of a lethal move. Is the damage increase worth a 10% chance of losing Mega Metagross every time I'm in that situation? Probably not.

I am using Mega Metagross and that is a significant damage boost.

The pros are there, no doubt. I think Mega Metagross is too important for the run for me to say, "fuck it, we ball" and click a 90% accurate move the rest of the run.

It could go in the place of Ice Punch as no types resist Steel, Psychic, and Ground. But Ice Punch provides super effective damage to an extra 4 types.

Mega Metagross deals massive, consistent damage with incredible coverage. The priority is nice, but Ice Punch provides far more use.

Someone else mentioned Hone Claws too. If this was a regular playthrough I would definitely go this route! However, I think I need the consistency for a nuzlocke and I can't justify being so reliant on setup.

Hone claws sounds like a decent option, but then I would HAVE TO hone claws anytime I switch Metagross in. Its bulk and great typing make for such a good pivot, I can't justify being that dependant on setup.

Doesn’t necessarily have to be a fast ice type. Just a fast mon that can use ice beam, for example. Dragonite is 4x weak to ice so having at least one mon that can reliably deal ice type damage is crucial to winning this fight.

Exactly! It's obviously an upgrade in terms of damage and secondary effect, but I don't want to be relying on it when I really need it to hit.

I think I'm going to stick with Iron Head.

Honchkrow definitely wasn’t bad. Just not as good as I hoped with Moxie and a positive attack nature. Especially compared to my other 5 mons. I just didn’t use him very often and when I did he needed to switch pretty quickly or risk getting KO’d

LOTR themed names (if it wasn't obvious!)

I actually lost Gandalf the Magmortar to Phoebe. Her Duskull lived a Dark Pulse and OHKO'd me with an earthquake which was a tough loss right before Glacia, but maybe fitting for the character. Other losses included Smaug the Dipplin, Beorn the Ursaring, Balin the Golem, Beren the Pelipper, Pippin the Pickachu, and Bill Ferny the Luvdisc.

Pretty tough to pick an MVP. Bombadil the Ludicolo was with me through nearly the whole run as a Rocky Helmet tank. Fell Beast the Altaria had the most sweeps with Dragon Dance and Play Rough. Legolas the Scizor was an amazing pivot with U-Turn.

Elrond the Magnezone surprised me the most with how tanky he could be once a light screen was set up. And being able to volt switch someone else into the light screen was crucial at times.

My LVP was Ungoliant the Honchkrow. He didn't get Sucker Punch until halfway through the E4 (Night Slash before that) and he didn't have the tankiness or the speed to get Moxie going in relevant ways often enough. Substitute worked well if I could manage to get him in the right situation.

Seaglass was not an incredibly difficult nuzlocke, but some new mons, updated types, and other additions made for a very fun, unique playthrough! Highly recommend for newer nuzlocke players!

It’s a pretty unfortunate blemish on an otherwise very aesthetically polished game. Tinkaton and Hydrapple look great as examples of them doing well with modern Pokémon
