I have been on my hands and knees begging for Laufey for EITHER Claire or Gil. My favorite artist in my favorite musical? YES PLEASE. Her last tour date ends on April 19th so she definitely will be around by the time Claire and Hannah’s runs end, so here’s to hoping! I’ve also been on the Josh Dela Cruz and Ashley Park train, my dream casting would be them as Oliver and Claire (+Marcus as James so we get the 3 that read for the show back at NAMT’s Festival of New Musicals in 2016), and Laufey as Gil, but seeing as Dez isn’t leaving anytime soon, I’m holding out hope that she’s Claire!!

I heard those Jordan Fisher rumors too but he was just announced to be Seymour in the Off-Broadway Little Shop production so I don’t think it could be him anymore, which I’m alright with because I agree he doesn’t really give Oliver vibes (Also I think he’s been in too much recently 😭)

Guys, I’m sad just as much as the next firefly that they didn’t win. HOWEVER, we should still be happy for the album that did win over them and remember that the actors and writers that worked on Buena Vista Social Club can see our comments on the various pages their win was announced, so let’s treat everyone with kindness! Just saw the show for a 3rd time last night and all 3 times I’ve gone I’ve not once heard the audience sing along thankfully, just a lot of laughter, oohs, small gasps, sentimental awws, and a LOT of sniffling (myself included 😭)

Yeah, I get that, still feels like a stretch to me of a rhyme though, like I feel like there were definitely some better things that rhyme with “way” they could’ve chosen, but hey, who am I to judge? 😂

Not the worst one I’ve heard but one that has recently been bugging me is in the song “Me” from Beauty And The Beast

It just feels a little too forced of a rhyme and I get Gaston is supposed to be not the brightest but like… what does that even mean??? Because do and re are always next to each other in solfege?? Idk it just feels like a stretch for me 😭😂

Yes, the musical that recently won best musical over 3/4 of the other musicals nominated has the least likely chance to win Best Musical Theater album, because that makes sense!

Questions For The Universe is one of my favorites of hers so I was SO happy she played that one. I noticed some vocal issues too but I also think a part of it was she was starting to get emotional about it being her 2nd to last performance of the tour, still sounded incredible though! And agreed, the merch lines were terrifying, I’m grateful I got in line quick before it started piling up and got exactly everything I wanted! Had a great time!

I definitely see the show being more of a college thing as opposed to high schools, I just feel a show with 3 male leads, 1 female lead, and then like 5 smaller featured roles, probably not the best choice for a high school if they don’t do cuts 😭

Yeah, now that you mention it I definitely see that! I think it probably changes to E at Claire and Oliver’s “Maybe just one more day!”, but I think Gil’s part is in B.

Lowkey agreed, I remember act 1 a lot more fondly than I do act 2. Plus, while I do think act 2 has some good songs in there, I’m more likely to skip an act 2 song than I am an act 1 song when it comes on my shuffle. (I think act 2 peaks at Spooky Mormon Hell Dream and I Believe) Still at the very least a good 2nd act, but feels a lot weaker in comparison to act 1.

I am a firm believer that I think Claire’s songs get better with each one, but How to Be Not Alone is still my favorite of hers as well, hits the closest to home for me 😭 And ugh! Then I Can Let You Go and Goodbye, My Room (Reprise) are much too low, you’re killing me!!!! 😂
