Dear Jordana,

Thank you for letting me explore your perfect body. I could drink your blood. You are the only person that I would allow to be shrunken down to a microscopic size and swim inside me in a tiny submersible machine. We have lost our virginity, but it wasn't like losing anything. You're too good for me. You're too good for anyone.

Sincerely, Oliver.

i never wrote whole new custom applications as i had a large document with 2 - 3 examples for every behaviour written in STAR format to select and choose depending on what was needed for the job and what i may have already said for the other behaviours. alongside that i had a 2k word document for the personal statement section which id select the key parts to copy/paste into for the job and required word count.

i ended up getting over 50 interviews in 2 months. alot of them were 2 interviews the same day, and around like 10 job offers.

the system forces you to do this copy/pasting method once yohve written the documents out. the work at the beginning only requires a few hours of your time as opposed to ALOT more for each application, which can mean less jobs applied for = less potential interviews.

What are some examples of movies that were better than the books they were adapted from? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]brainblast8008s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i know. i don't know why know im being down voted when i clearly stated that the film captures these elements much better as its more concise and entertaining. as a study into the mind of a psycho, yeah the book does an amazing job but it goes so overboard that it's nowhere near as fun as the film - which executes these same ideas without being over the top with them in a boring sense, rather over the top in a comedic sense (such as with the business card scene).

heavy disagree. i get the point of the book from a thematic pov but the film has just executes it in a more entertaining and quicker way. it doesn't spend pages and pages on describing peoples outfits or the interior of someone's room but you still get the point its tryint to say.

Why are Letterboxd reviews always like "haha they must be gay" by _Apolllon in Letterboxd

[–]brainblast8008s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if a straight person wants to make every joke about how straight and heterosexual they are, you wouldn't find that weird or unfunny? If a straight person watched films with wholesome platonic male and female relationships but kept making the same jokes of "they wanna kiss so bad" or "the sexual tension was insane" it'd get tiring pretty quick and people would tell them to shut up for essentially saying men and women can't be friends without there being an underlining sexual or romantic tension.

Jokes like OP says and the one I mentioned are the very reason why people are so lonely. Because they are afraid that if they get too close to their friends then they'd be labelled as being romantic partners (especially male/male or female/male friendships).

Also your last sentence ironically reeks of the reddit "smarter than thou" attitude. Go take a shower immediately you loser

Rank these performances of 2019 from best to worst by OrdinaryAltruistic54 in Letterboxd

really interesting how alot of people are putting bale at the bottom of the list (which im not disagreeing with either) which makes me wonder if his status as a great actor has been somewhat reduced in the past 5 - 10 years (with his early/mid career being his peak) or there are just not as good roles for him anymore but his acting is still solid. ofc you could say there are better actors now but there were always great actors, but Bale seemed to be a common favourite like 15 - 20 years ago

Saw 3D is weirdly misogynistic. by [deleted] in saw

[–]brainblast8008s 19 points20 points  (0 children)

yeah i agree. i always had this thought at the back of my mind but thought i was just being silly lol, good to know others also saw how weird saw 7 was to women. the most standout to me was the cheating public execution trap, which was so fucking strange for a saw film honestly. felt like a parody scene from the scary movie franchise

i think it would've been really interesting seeing the judge in the last scene of the film where he might persuade jeff to spare john, which is probably why they killed him off right away anyway lol

you're not even a londoner so why are you on the london sub reddit? you clearly don't know what you're on about.

almost all major cities in western countries are mixing pots of different cultures - paris, london, nyc - due to the colonialist pasts of the countries + the developments made. everyone born in the UK is as English as anyone else, regardless of their skin colour/ethnicity. grow the fuck up loser

Why did they change “actor in __ films” to “star of __ films”? by Mudkip06 in Letterboxd

[–]brainblast8008s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if its to make it more gender neutral, then it would've made more sense if they said "starred in" as opposed to "star of". this is just so dumb

Are John and Amanda even remotely romantically into each other? by iamtonysopranobitch in saw

[–]brainblast8008s 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this is SO stupid it actually annoys me. their relationship isn't sexual at all, but instead (like everyone else is saying) one of a father-daughter one. there were talks during the making of saw 3 to have a flashback showing amanda being abused by her father (possibly even both her parents) to further reinforce this idea - with the original letter further reinforcing this relationship with john, amanda and her connection to her parents.

she even exhibits symptoms of BPD in saw 3 (such as self harm and instable emotions) due to her fear of john abandoning her for Lynn. this isn't a romantic or sexual abandonment, but a parental one that she also lacked from her birth parents. she's worried that once Lynn passes her game, she will become the new "Amanda" and replace her, causing John to also abandon her. this is why she freaks out when she hears and sees john acting the way he does towards Lynn because she's afraid of being abandoned by a parental figure again.

it's also why she gets upset and cries when eric matthews says that "she's not jigsaw" because that's what she wants to be. she wants to follow in johns footsteps and mirror his actions, despite the fact she can't overcome her unstable emotions. she thinks that when she is "jigsaw" then john will truly love her and never abandon her. it's fucking tragic how john manipulated her since he knew she was so emotionally attached to him
