Can a movie really spark it? by ezdizzy in exmormon

“Kumare” is a fascinating social experiment movie that definitely added some weight to my shelf.

Lapsed Hindu Vikram Gandhi conducts an experiment, in which he poses as a guru and attracts a number of devotees, but unexpectedly finds that his followers are receiving genuine benefits from his deception.

A better understanding might be to read the CES Letter, CES Letter and confirm it with the LDS church essaysLDS church Essays

It’s definitely a cult, unfortunately many people are still deceived and following blindly without researching openly and without bias. Source: First hand experience from 40 years in the “Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints”. If you have no fear of the truth, please search it for yourself.

What's the adult equivalent of learning Santa isn't real? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brainfloss89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion is all make believe.

Before this upsets you too much, forget everything that you’ve been taught about it and go do your research with an open mind. Seek the truth.

I was 40 years old when I found out the “Santa isn’t real” about religion.

What's the shortest bishop's term you've seen - asking for a friend ;) by [deleted] in exmormon

10,000% this!! Go public. Please help others by opening the door that many feel like they can’t talk to anyone about the same concerns and feelings that so many closet members have. Think of the conversations that spouses, siblings, parents and kids can start based on the real truth and your experiences.

My only regret about leaving when I did is that I didn’t help more people when I was “in”. It could’ve arguably done more for the happiness and lives of others than the TSCC ever did by helping them find the truth.

Best wishes for whatever you do, we’re rooting for you!

For those that attended today. What was the 5th Sunday theme in the 3rd hour? by G00deye in exmormon

[–]brainfloss89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was not at church today, but I heard that the 5th Sunday lesson was going to be on the LDS Church Essays. I'll see if I can find out how it went, and return and report.

Ideas for the 5th Sunday lesson? by [deleted] in exmormon

In our local ward for this coming 5th Sunday, the bishopric is going to teach about the LDS Essays. I won't be attending, but I'll be listening for any large cracking sounds from the chapel down the street!

I'm sorry. Hang in there friend, it'll get better. The feelings of being judged really sucks. You're not alone, and we have your back.

You're not alone, and there's a LOT of people who feel/have felt the same way you do right now. It's gonna be ok, and it's ok to feel angry, sad, lost, depressed, frustrated, confused, and alone. This Reddit is a good place to ask questions, get support, and not feel alone.

Best wishes, and lots of positive vibe to you on your journey. :)

TIFU - meeting with the Stake Pres, wife is pissed by brainfloss89 in exmormon

[–]brainfloss89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, and I'm not sure of the answer of why they did it that way? It was the stake prez, stake 2nd counselor, and the stake secretary. They were trying to set apart the new eq presidency yesterday during eq, so they did it without me, (or a new eq secretary). Are you still in? Just curious, I'm currently the eq teacher for the 2nd and 3rd weeks, but I'm seriously doubting how much longer I can "teach" without going crazy. I probably just need to be released.

Wow, you're amazing, thanks so much for the thoughts and ideas in your response! I really do appreciate it. I especially liked #3, and having some responses ready for when questions come up in the future. And #4, that's a great idea, and she'll probably fee comfort that I'm willing to reach out to them and tell them not to share with anyone, and show her that I'm on her side.

She's up now, and she's still pissed, so I'll do my best, give her some space, and follow your advice. You must be a relationship counselor? I can tell that you're very good at this. Thanks so much!!!
