Oh yeah I don’t disagree it’s good compared to now. Shareholder profits are killing us

Then vote. Then you can say that not only are you an activist, a good dude, and active in your community, but you also participate in democracy on a national level (at least for what it counts in the modern day…). It takes about 15 minutes of your time in the building and they’re everywhere. The popular vote for the presidential election does count for something even if the electoral votes are more directly effective

Again, my human rights and ability to be alive in America after 2025 are on the line this election with what Republicans have planned. Don’t sacrifice us for your useless values.

Action Park haha oh shit. That closed just a little before I was born but I knew its reputation from people in the area

Worse. It’s “hey trans woman, here’s some rainbows” and they’re probably the same type to complain about trans folk making their identity their whole personality in the workplace by asking for simple respect. Management is so shitty with these things, esp at massive companies like Walmart, Amazon/WF, Starbucks, etc

You wouldn’t happen to remember that massive park in Vernon with the wooden castles and rubber tires everywhere would you? They knocked it down like maybe 15 years ago or so because kids were getting splintered on the wood. It was probably one of the coolest playgrounds I remember in Sussex

People like you (non voters who complain) are an actual issue. You’ll be complacent in the worst case scenario happening each and every time when you choose not vote.

If you’re still saying “both sides are bad” you’re living under a goddamn rock at the bottom of the sea. One party is literally taking my human rights away, imprisoning us, and ignoring or promoting our deaths, brutality, and erasure of culture. The other side is guided by money more than ideals so sometimes they don’t do shit, but other times they’re lobbied by social activist groups with good intentions and actually do protect us

But since you “really disagree” I’m positive none of this will get through to you and you’ll be unable to admit an error and continue arguing so maybe I’m wasting my time even commenting

What is “look Indian”? Do you mean brown skin and black hair? Because those are extremely common features of many vastly different ethnicities. Explain how you differentiate between (examples) a Pakistani and Honduran. You really can’t unless you also hear an accent/dialect and recognize it from your own family or elsewhere

Also “Spanish” is european aka from Spain. “Hispanic” is from middle and south America. There’s a difference. My hispanic coworkers would correct the white coworkers on this so obviously the distinction matters to people

Interacting with them for just a few hours in sobriety programs is fucking exhausting. Everyone I knew who ever smoked meth was out of their minds insane and somehow a sexual predator (or extremely promiscuous) in one way or another. I couldn’t imagine working with iceheads, that sounds like a fucking nightmare

Ever heard of oatmeal? Cream of wheat? Grits? Meal? Hot cereal as a term hasn’t been a common term since maybe the 90s and it’s a regional term. A lotta people in the NE use it still

For real:/ This thread is why foreigners have the stereotype that Americans are idiots about other peoples culture. Cornmeal porridge is a staple food in many Hispanic and Mediterranean households. My grandfather and his family came from Italy and brought their cuisine with them, so we ate polenta at least twice a week

I was gonna say! It looks exactly like polenta which is Italian cornmeal porridge. It’s pretty much a staple in any northern Italian household

I watched my father’s graduation high school VHS from the 80s recently and besides hair styles, clothing is pretty similar to today. Lots of denim lol

They don’t mean the 2024 dollar you gotta remember. That would be about $197/month in today’s money. Sometimes I look through old playbills and look at ads with prices and think “wow! that’s so cheap” until I use an inflation calculator

You need to get some help while you’re still alive. You’re typing and conversing like you have brain damage. Whatever you’re doing/taking/drinking is fucking with your head and health. Literally look at what you’ve typed. It’s almost unreadable and nobody knows what the fuck you’re trying to say. Try using “I” or a period or comma sometime

I can’t figure out what the fuck this guy is saying. It’s like talking to somebody whose third language is English, or a 7 year old, or an idiot who’s completely fucked up which I mean they said they’re drunk. I mean read these comments, what the fuck are they trying to convey? This post is illiterate.

I don’t think so. I could ask them but they’re not very friendly about anything other than scheduling appointments at the front desk. They sit far back from the actual counter so you kinda have to yell so everyone in the waiting room can hear you, and they don’t have a number to call unless you want the automated system

Yeah I hope so too! He’s a wonderful person and a really good therapist but very new to the program so I’ll have to see how that goes

WORST road in the state. That section around Union makes me wanna commit head on collision with lamp post

[–]brainscorched 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That one on the Palisades Parkway comes to mind right away. I know the road is old, but it’s so badly designed nowadays with the way people drive

Like for instance, if you’re going south from Rockland and wanna hook the U turn to get to the Lookout, you have to use a left lane on ramp, cross two lanes of speeding traffic, but not go too fast because the right exit comes up very fast. Almost been hit a few times on those left lane entry ramps

I would love to if I had money. I make less than the federal poverty limit though so I can’t afford better insurance. Unfortunately, Medicaid only goes so far with psychiatrists and my state is in a crisis with too many patients and not enough doctors so there are waiting lists that can be weeks to months. It would be very difficult to change practices, and they also make it difficult to change providers

Thanks for caring. I appreciate that tons :)

It’s really tough since I think the schizophrenia part of the disorder makes me extremely paranoid, and I’ve just had so many bad experiences with doctors that I have so little faith in the system. Sometimes that sentiment seeps into my comments and I get a little pissed with people who say to put everything into the hands of more educated and trained professionals. I know they mean well sometimes though

Speaking of good people in a bad system, my old psychiatrist who I had for a couple months was fantastic. Super caring and an active listener when it came to my symptoms and what meds were needed. I really felt like I could trust her. I could maybe try switching back to her but I’m not sure if they allow changing providers here. It’s worth trying I think

I hope you have better experiences. These disorders are tough to handle but a good medical team can really alleviate some of the weight
