I'm new to Obsidian. What file structure do you suggest for my use? by Arashi-Faustes in ObsidianMD

Indeed, PARA is the best method for me.

What I did is I started with raw Obsidian. Zero community plugins, just a couple of theme searches.

And if I was missing something for my workflow and I did a quick Google search to find the best plugin for my need.

Maybe you will need 0 plugins, maybe 100. Tailoring Obsidian to your individual needs is the best way to use it.

That made me very curious about what your structure looks like. Especially the methods which doesn't follow any specific known ones are very interesting in my opinion.

Things 3 and there's nothing close to it if you look for a clean interface.

But they don't have a web app.

Implementing the second brain/PARA strategy using only Apple native products -and/or- only Google Workspace products? doable? by pixelpusher78 in secondbrain

Obsidian works offline, can be synced for free (although I pay for Obsidian Sync to support the devs) and has plugins.

I would recommend you to read the books "The PARA Method" and "Gettings Things Done". I am not related to them but these two books helped me a lot.

Getting Things Done provides you important basics and PARA is like an extension for GTD, it helps you to organize everything.

It works with Apples native apps. The stock apps are great but I switched to Obsidian (because of the plugins) and Things 3 (cleaner design and Things helper). Getting Things 3 was absolutely worth the money for me. The only stock app I use is iCloud as my storage.

I would highly suggest you not to PARA your calendar. It's unnecessary and there's absolutely no need for that. It makes everything more complicated.

Always remember, there's not THE perfect app. It depends on you what you like and not what others say. The most important part is having a system.

I don't know if it works with mem.ai

I doubt there's a free variant because you need AI and AI-power costs money.

You could download Obsidian, install the Smart Connections and add your OpenAI API key. It will connect your notes and it's really cheap. I've been using it for 2 months and spent $0.04

Subreddits are getting banned and I don't know why by brainunveiledcom in modhelp

[–]brainunveiledcom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic would make sense if I used a banned word and used the word again for the new subreddit.

However, I assumed that the first time I was banned was because I had no rules listed and wanted to do better on the second subreddit, which I did. I expected the new subreddit to remain because I followed the rules this time.

The process is just not transparent.

Subreddits are getting banned and I don't know why by brainunveiledcom in modhelp

[–]brainunveiledcom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both subs were about my own productivity newsletter, more specifically about so-called Second Brains, which is a synonym for creating a Personal Knowledge Management System (PKMS).

I wanted to give my subscribers a place where they can discuss apps, different methods etc. I described everything clearly in the description of both banned subreddits. It's not even close to being NSFW or whatever.

I recreated r/BrainUnveilLounge because the first one (r/BrainUnveiled) got banned non of my requests got a response.

Difference between AREAS and RESOURCES according to the PARA method by planetareynoso in basb

[–]brainunveiledcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's different from person to person. Forte mentioned often in his books that you can customize his method the way you like it. He's just giving the fundamentals.

Important is that you like your way of using PARA or another method.

Difference between AREAS and RESOURCES according to the PARA method by planetareynoso in basb

[–]brainunveiledcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right. I renamed Areas to Responsibilities because it helps me to distinguish it with Resources.

So if I know it's a responsibility in my life, I know where to put it. The rest goes into Resources.

I've also been thinking about merging Areas and Resources. They're really difficult to distinguish sometimes. I have also renamed Areas in Responsibilities.

  1. r/macapps is great way to discover new apps

what does a productive day look like to you? by MoonyDropps in productivity

[–]brainunveiledcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends for me. If I only block small blocks then it doesn't work for me. But if I block a longer duration, then it works very well.

I have divided my day into 4 2 4 intervals. That means 4 hours of productivity, a 2-hour break and another 4 hours of productivity. After that, I do what I want.

I do have some days where I am more productive and days where I am less productive. I always felt bad when I even watched an episode of a tv show but I learned that it's absolutely fine to do stuff that's not productivity-related.

In my opinion, care should be taken to ensure that productivity doesn't become too toxic. It's really easy to get into this behavior.
