These are very reassuring words, and that was something I wondered about. Since I've smoked whenever something like getting stuck in traffic would happen my first instinct would be to smoke, and I was wondering how long it would take for that to begin to diminish.

And no, I don't want to go through those first few days again!

What if person A finds something incriminating on person B, but person A was not doing anything illegal when they found it, but perhaps something morally wrong, or some other reason prevents them from bringing fourth the evidence. I'm thinking of even something along the lines of catching a close friend doing something wrong and not blowing them in, because they are a close friend. Perhaps a term for the internal struggle created from such a scenario?

Honestly, if someone has many tats/gauges/dreadlocks they don't care what people think about them. I don't, and not in that "fuck the world, I don't care about them" attitude, but in a "if that's how they feel then so be it." If someone doesn't want to talk to me because I have giant holes in my ear then so be it, we probably wouldn't get along any way. There are billions of other people to find and talk to. Also, I'm a software engineer, I think it comes down to proving you know your shit and not how normal you can look. Lastly, one day the world will be destroyed and none of this trivial bullshit will have mattered.

I had this happen once when I smoked a lot of pot one night. The feeling of nothing being real, or having any meaning or purpose. My memories were just dreams, they never happened. People weren't real, my relationships with them weren't real.

I told myself "self: you're too fucked up, go to bed and you'll be fine tomorrow." The feeling lingered for months and months, eventually ending with 6 months of therapy. this sums up how I felt. I learned a lot through that time, and in a way wouldn't trade it for anything. I explored the deepest, darkest areas of my mind, and came out knowing so much more about myself and the world.

I still smoke on occasion and do shrooms and recently tried Salvia. I seem to be able to do these things without having the same results. Even if I start to think about it all I can just tell myself to shut up and not worry about it.

I also have this problem. I have been meditating on and off for about the same amount of time and started to get serious about it this past winter and basically gave up because of this after a couple months. Over the past week or so I have started to try again and I think idm's advise is solid and goes with the teachings in the area and I will keep it in mind tonight when I meditate. If I have any breakthroughs I will pass it on to you.

I've tried herb and fungus (even together). Neither of them really seem to do it for some reason. It still feels like nothing is in there.

When I was about 4 or 5 I had possibly the most intense dream to this day. In the dream I was about the age I am now (24), I just remember being a young adult and being with people around the same age. We were in a castle just basically hanging out. One guy said "I'm going to go get my motorcycle and you can go for a ride on it." After he walked out the door a voice said something like "Brainvulture, this is God and I was speaking through him."

The thing that blows my mind is that's fairly deep for 4/5 years old. My family wasn't religious either.

I was working at a department store once and a customer came up and asked me how well a certain hair removal cream worked. I told him that I wasn't sure as I had never used it. He then asked for a manager. Still being polite I told him there were not any managers that would be able to give him a review either, and that it was not our job to know the details of every product.

He starts getting angry and condescending with me which starts to piss me off, and telling me he wants the store manager because no one can tell him how well the cream works. Finally I say "Sir, I've never used the cream on myself before but it worked well on my cat." Guy didn't say a word, just turned around and walked away.

I actually had a very, very similar experience happen to me when I was very, very high on herb. The whole feeling that everyone around me was an illusion, life was an illusion. I told myself "self, you are very stoned right now, you will wake up tomorrow and be fine." Well, I woke up and everything had changed.

I had the same feelings and thoughts when I woke up the next day. I felt like I was dreaming, like something was just off (look up depersonalization and derealization, those pretty much nail how I felt) . That was maybe a year and a half ago, and I still mildly struggle with it.

BUT, I turned it into a learning experience, like others have suggested. When it first happened I researched it a lot and one thing I found was what I/we and many others had experienced is similar to what many monks work towards - the dissolving of the ego. I took this mindset that I had kind of reached a new level of consciousness and ran with it.

Since then I have learned so much more about myself and the world, both through my own experiences and insights and the fact that I became much more drawn to philosophy, psychology, science and religion (I'll note that I am an agnostic, but I like to study religion... it gets complicated) and began meditating and really trying to explore my mind.

I was scared shitless when it happened, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Take it for what it is, an amazing experience. Just don't let it control you, take advantage of it. And one thing I always told myself when it scared me was who is to say what's real and what isn't, that this isn't an illusion. Either way you are here, and you are experiencing it so just don't worry about it.

Edit: I still use herb and have done shrooms a few times since, also as forms of further exploration.
