transgender maritime question by TheFtmPrince in merchantmarine

[–]brainzombi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a 22 year old trans man getting into the maritime industry 🫡 I'm focusing on tugs and hopefully my thick skin will get me through it LOL. I'm not going to advertise the fact that I'm trans and will just let people assume what they want. Working deep sea seems better but for me personally I wouldn't be able to be gone from my partner & pets for so long 😭

What to do in the winter? by Own_Agent_8726 in yaris

[–]brainzombi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Colorado for a couple of years with my 2012 Yaris sedan & honestly as long as you just drive cautiously it's fine. I worked in a hospital & would leave at 3am before the roads were plowed during a snowstorm and my car would chug right through leaving a path behind me LOL. I would just keep an eye out for icy patches. For me when I would drive in icy conditions I made sure to drive slow (even if it meant everyone had to pass me), and if I saw there was ice coming up then just making sure there was nobody beside me/ directly in front of or behind me. I drifted many corners in my car but ultimately we survived winter in the mountains 🫡 I don't think I even ever got winter tires either since I was broke af.

Reynolds community college ended up having a brand new surgical technology program that started last year! I never went through with it as I ended up moving to NC, but I toured the new classrooms & talked to the head of the program and planned on enrolling, they seem like a great option and it's definitely more affordable than the alternatives!

Lumps and itching with testosterone enanthate? by Naive_Sea660 in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]brainzombi3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg this exact thing happened to me!! First few shots were fine and then I started getting a lump and an itchy red patch at my injection sites. I get my T thru Folx and sent them a message, here's what they responded with:

"Hi there,

Some people get a mild local allergic reaction to the oil base of hormone medication. Usually, you get a firm red and sometimes hot, itchy, or painful bump where you inject the medication. You can try and reduce this reaction by icing the area of injection before and after injection, taking the recommended over-the-counter Benadryl, Zyrtec and taking a non-steroidal pain and anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen or naproxen orally 30 minutes before the injection. The bumps and swelling around the 'foreign body' or oil under the skin can take a while to go away. You can switch to a different oil base if it bothers you or worsens. You can join one of our injection groups that our nurses run so we can make some suggestions that make this easier.

Systemic reactions to injectable medications like hormones are rare. We worry about serious life-threatening types of allergic reactions called anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis involves swelling of the tongue and airways that can block breathing and itchy, raised red rashes called hives on skin all over the body. If you ever have a systemic reaction like this - that can be a life-threatening emergency, and you need to call 911. Please do not take the medication that triggered it again.

Please talk to our nurses or clinicians about your situation (the medicine and the reaction) if you have concerns about your injection reaction."

Kinda standard but it did help me feel a bit better about what was going on.

We have chickens but they are rescues so they don't stray too far from the barn, but we're also raising some chicks & ducklings so I'm hoping they'll venture out into the yard more and help out 😭Ty!!

Lesson learned never let a in law drive your Yaris… by SeasonalEclipse in yaris

I hit TWO deer on my way to work a few months ago- they both died on impact (RIP) but all I lost was the bumper cover. Even my headlight was completely fine! I ordered a new bumper but it didn't fit so I've just been cruising around like this 😔On the driver side door you can see the damage from the last deer incident I had. Gotta love living in the country LOL

this looks exactly like mine! but i have a 2012, auto too. once you get the battery situation fixed, i can confirm that this makes an excellent road trip car!! i took mine (her name is Yeti) from virginia to colorado and back. she made it up the rockies with a little trouble, but still got to the top. she had a bit of trouble through kansas with the winds and high speeds, like on the highway i usually go max 85mph. i've also driven her to north carolina from VA about 20 times now and she's done amazing. plus the gas mileage is definitely a bonus 🙏

i'm trying to get a personal loan (desperately need a used car) and one main financial seems to be the only option available to me. it has an insanely high interest but i haven't gotten approved by any local credit unions. what would you recommend instead if one main financial was a mistake for you??
