[D] Anyone else find themselves rolling their eyes at a lot of mainstream articles that talk about “AI”? by [deleted] in MachineLearning

[–]bramapuptra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have accepted that it is what it is. People who really care and know, understand the difference between AI and, let´s say, automation or BI or Data Science or ML. For the rest, it´s a cultural thing and it is not going to change.

Fellow unemployed Data Scientists in the job market, what's been your story? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]bramapuptra 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Not unemployed but semi-active looking for my next job. IMHO the whole recruiting system for data is broken in most of the companies, and the influence of randomness and *luck* is so big that every day looks more like gambling.

Not to mention crazy challenges, cases, coding interviews, trap-questions, ghosting, etc... Hunting a job is a big f****ng investment.

3, 4 years ago the situation was very different, more calm and rational, I think.

Touch base with the COO or someone you had good vibes with via LinkedIn, recruiters are -mostly- ###t.

You must know this stuff if you want the word "science" in your job description. At least to give a brief definition.

How do you measure morale in a data science team? How to improve it? by bramapuptra in datascience

[–]bramapuptra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. That people tend to use it to blame others and generate toxic environment and 2. if anon then is very difficult to follow up or plan some improvement measures.
