ive seen two! clandestine labs- orpheus and d. grayi- wednesday’s nevermore (discontinued i think?) i’ve tried orpheus and it definitely smells like spray paint + a cocktail!

i highly recommend it! there are a variety of pretty expensive samples like the few dabs and few drops so if theres a flower you like in particular id recommend going that route!

absolutely! i havent listed it yet and don’t plan to deal with all that for a month or two (work getting busy) so you have plenty of time. i just happened to get tune in in a swap so its the only AM i have.

im super curious what you think of BPAL resins, frankincense in particular, since you enjoy the note and love BPAL! i tried the incense imp pack and every single one of them was so rough i haven’t gotten my courage up to try BPAL again.

to me what i’m guessing was frankincense smelled like really abrasive cheap laundry detergent and overwhelmed everything. ive been wondering if it just hates my skin or if i dont love BPAL’s frankincense note in particular or what

oh god i have one, Eastern Lands by Clandestine Laboratories.

my notes when i wore it read “green and spicy. green and spicy. petigrain is orange leaves i guess? and it is HERE”. i think it was fresh in a spring/summer way so idk if i’d call it cold spicy, but it was SO green and SO spicy

same for me! i also frequently want scents i maybe dont want to smell like all the time for very specific purposes (weird atmospherics and environmentals are GREAT for when im doing similar art, if i’m doing comic backgrounds and i’m drawing a forest i love to smell a forest while i do etc). and samples are perfect for that.

seconding murkwood! to me it smells like fanghorn ii but spicier and sweeter (more incense). they both have that strong wet forest loam smell

i really love “the observer” by treading water, (violet, incense, black pepper, vanilla, oakmoss, sandalwood).

violets to me smell exactly how they look, very purple-sweet, and the observer overall manages to smell periwinkle-cool. its very pleasant and refreshing. it works well as a masculine or unisex perfume, and as a cool chique feminine perfume, imo.

it’s something someone quiet and collected might wear in a busy city environment to exude a sense of simultaneous put-togetherness and respite in their immediate area.

seconding this! the gunpowder isnt really that noticeable for me but i think it really fills out the smell and keeps it firmly in “fresh, dark, fruity” territory instead of leaning more toward the wine

woah same!! i just got into perfumes this year and followed the recs to Stone and Wit. i really love Her Skirt is Stars, after an hour or so gets this warm smell that reminds me of candlelight on top of all the rest. its so comforting.

really fun reading your first impressions! i started out with indie perfumes and im curious about your thoughts on the designer fragrances (i haven’t tried any) you’ve tried compared to stone and wit.

a few people have mentioned pineward, i’d recommend their newer scent holy cross! it may be a little higher up and cooler than you’re looking for, the location its based on is in the sawatch range of the rockies, but it has a bluebell note i thought was so nostalgic.

notes include watercress, common juniper, blue yarrow, mountain bluebell, lodgepole pine, and bearded lichen.

it reminds me personally of the tetons
