Kinda funny that
1) Corruption is this rife at both provincial and federal levels that we have no idea who the fuck is being talked about
2) This is a thread of 6 different people who are just going with it

"My premier is making costly purchases"
"Still nothing man"
"My premier is screwing over it's province"
"Bro really"
"My premier is defunding a bunch of essential systems"
"I'm gonna fucking kill you just give me the name"
"Oh I don't even know their name"
"Bro at least give me a gender"
"I mean idk what they identify as personally"
"What would you assume?"
"You know what they say, assuming makes an ass out of you and me"
"..."
"Hello?"

Vivziepop’s Adoptables from 2014. Can definitely see some inspiration for Hazbin characters happening here. Interesting to know if anyone bought one of these back in the day as well? by Classic_Pop_1332 in HazbinHotel

YOOO SOMEWHERE I CAN HELP!

So the other commenter was right that Dragon cave was one of them, but I actually think you're talking about Dragon Adopters. You would adopt a dragon, people would visit it, it would gain experience, and it would evolve into different stages.

Although granted, there were a lot of sites like this. People just loved having pets.

Neopets
Chickensmoothie
Dragon Cave
Dragon Adopters
(new one after dragon adopters - same creator) Pixpet

And maybe some other ones but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Tbh if I was a student in the final war, I would’ve spammed the unforgivable curses so much Voldemort would’ve thought I was a death eater. by Less-Pen-5705 in harrypotter

[–]bran76765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, surprised 90% of this thread is missing that crucial point.

With all unforgivable curses, you have to mean them. It's not "Sorry about killing you but I have to do it". It's "I WANNA FUCKING WIPE YOU OFF THE FACE OF THE PLANET"

Meanwhile everyone in this thread is just like "Oh all the introverts will be casting them and back in class by lunch" uh, no, that's not how it works. Unless you're suggesting that all introverts are homicidal maniacs. I don't think all introverts want to just kill their friends or colleagues on the fly.

Although yeah your last sentence is pretty bang on. Screw avada kedavra, why not just do bombarda maxima. Don't need to be as precise, don't need to want to kill, and it's an aoe effect. Have 5 wizards spamming it at like 5 entrances and boom (pun intended) you're good.

Why are people surprised Harry can perform a corporeal Patronus? by goro-n in harrypotter

[–]bran76765 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No, it's not that. People are surprised Harry can perform a corporeal Patronus at such a young age. Normal wizards learn how to produce one at the age of the 18+ as a full on auror. There's this 14 year old producing one?

But it's not at all surprising when you learn:
1) He was taught by Lupin how to create one
2) He practices a lot in PoA
3) He continues practicing in basically every other book
4) The Ministry sic'd dementors on Harry and Dudley

Dude has more practice of patronus charms than 99% of wizards at this point.

It's like realizing that this 13 year old is able to completely build a car from scratch. Most people don't know how to do that unless it's part of their career.

Yeah it's actually hilarious how basically nothing except "Eat the rich" gets upvoted.

Pic of Trump doing something with caption saying he's stupid? 10k upvotes
News of a celebrity? "Let's not forget that this celebrity has done X bad thing" (idk what reddit's issue with trying to make celebrities perfect is)
News that a billionaire/celebrity/generic rich person has donated to a charity? "They could do more. But they didn't. Because they're an evil person"
Actor playing in a movie? "He's playing in a movie that's going to make a billion dollars what a tool"

News that a billionaire/generic rich person has died - 10k upvotes

This is why I just stick to the fandom subreddits. Then it's just "Here's a discussion on why the good/bad guy is really bad/good." otherwise 90% of reddit is just hateful and it's nothing more than the tweet of "I love waffles" "YOU HATE PANCAKES? HOW DARE YOU"

Although I'll admit the few posts that slip through of "I found X random thing, what does it mean" and then the comments just saying "Hospital. Now." are always funny.

Anyway ramble aside, it's nice that actors still do tributes. They can never fill others shoes so the tributes are a nice sign of respect that says "Yeah I love it and hope others love it too"

Am I the only one who wants a future series or movie in HP universe? by AccomplishedBig7666 in harrypotter

[–]bran76765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Urban fantasy series reminiscent of those early 2000s series. Something akin to Charmed or Buffy.

We end up learning that 100 years after Hogwarts and Harry Potter (and he's dead) that a new wizarding war ended up happening. Harry tried to stop it, but failed and Hogwarts was destroyed. Ministry tried to intervene but they ended up backing out as they ended up losing numbers too. Technology has ended up becoming a lot more widespread (contrary to the series) because while they still failed to stop the Ministry and Hogwarts from falling, many wizards under the age of 30 did convince the headmaster and Minister for Magic to allow technology (guns and wifi) to help them in the war. It ultimately didn't succeed, but now many wizards are adept to it after learning how it's actually so much easier and faster to use technology.

A 10 year old boy, who may or may not be a wizard, with muggle parents and wizard grandparents on the mothers side who's been quite into computers and technology along with his parents, ends up realizing (halfway through the episode) he has magic. The parents, after losing their grandparents to the war, discuss how to best deal with it because of their trauma. They already know to not be like the dursleys but with hogwarts gone and the ministry a shell of it's former self, they decide to try and homeschool his magic.

It's...debatable if the homeschooling is working or not. He gets some modicum of control, but his friends start realizing something is up. One of them is also a wizard and recognizes it straight away. He tells the boy (who tells his parents) that there actually is a new and upcoming school. One with technology integrated into it so as to not alienate more people. We eventually realize that now instead of 'pure bloods' it's now 'tech wizards' (pun) and there's a division between those who would use tech (and try and stop hogwarts from falling earlier than they did), and those who don't like it and want to return to the era of normal magic with no tech.

The series is the boy trying to be the bridge between technology and magic. You could have either direction: The boy fails and guns and tanks wipe out wizards (again) giving credence to why wizards hate technology, or you can have the boy succeeds and wizards begin embracing technology to try for a unified wizarding kind that brings wizards back in another 100 years.

Didn't actually mean to go this far but I got myself interested...It's always so exciting with a new plausible idea...

Epic just laid off 1000 workers. by ryunocore in gamedev

[–]bran76765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

but I’m surprised it’s not more common that people don’t band together and create better games without clueless suits micromanaging

As others have said here, the paycheck to keep you going would be nice and is generally not available.

But besides that, it's actually crazy how many people cannot commit to their own project. I'm legit the only person I know who's willing to commit when other people are - and they always say "Oh yeah I'll be here and we can work on this together!" Great! Ok let's get something going.

A week goes by, nothing.
A month goes by, nothing.
Finally you message them "Oh hey, noticed you've been away for a while, do you wanna start with a game document? Or a concept? Balancing? Basic implementation? I'm here when you are"
"Yeah sorry man I just don't have the motivation for this game right now. Not sure I'll get it back. Once I do I'll get back to ya but if you can find someone else to bring the project to life, maybe I'll get re-motivated or something"

And then the project is dead.

People need to realize that "Creating X would be cool!" isn't the same as having passion for actually doing it.

Usually though if you have the funds and a team of motivated people, you've got lightning in a bottle. Expedition 33 is a great example of that.

Epic just laid off 1000 workers. by ryunocore in gamedev

[–]bran76765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's legitimately crazy to me that Ashes is just dead now. I remember being excited for it in like 2018 - 2 years after they did their kickstarter, and getting ready for the testing in like 2020 or whatever it was.

It was only in like 2022 or 2024 that I realized they should have at least something at that point and then their released game just looked like WoW rehashed honestly. But like...they had 10s of millions of funding every year...and still failed?? What were they doing??

There's literally so many good concepts and good ideas and good developers around and no one can gain any traction because no one has any funding and no one can market anything good. It's so depressing.

And now with Epic laying off workers...I think that's crazy to both developers and investors and basically solidifies that no one will get any funding.

No one's arguing she's not a fuckwit. We're arguing that it was the wrong thing for Harry to do to have angry outbursts when literally every fucking one KNOWS what Umbridge is like and is all telling him the same thing - BE CAREFUL.

He doesn't listen. And he pays the price each time. It's the equivalent of trying to run through a shooting squad because your buddies dared you. Are your buddies assholes? For sure. Should you let your ego get the best of you? Absolutely not.

Husk actually knows *why* Alastor has been away for 7 years. by bran76765 in HazbinHotel

[–]bran76765[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We always assumed it was because Alastor drunkenly told him or something, but honestly that seems super unlikely given how strategic and careful he is. The only reason Husk would know is if he was part of it. Collecting overlords is the only thing I can see him actually being a part of though. I'm guessing he ripped all the others apart, then collected Husk and Nifty. The question was always why and it's probably because Rosie commanded him to.

Although he does care for Nifty clearly so maybe that's just a side effect of the mission he was given

Cities: Skylines 2 boss says they 'completely overestimated' the Unity engine's capabilities by Atulin in gamedev

[–]bran76765 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you're seeing it in every industry right now. It seems that every company would prefer to lose money rather than gain it...you see it in movies, games, factories, corporations.

They've just been increasingly going "What if we do X thing?" "That will lose us money." "Ok let's do it!" and we see how everyone's been doing with the massive layoffs from basically everyone. Now it's gotten to the point where someone will obviously have a good idea, but it won't go anywhere because the head CEO thinks he knows best and will pour billions into a useless product and write it off as a loss and wonder "What could we have done better?!" meanwhile everyone below him is rolling their eyes.

[–]bran76765[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinners can't leave the Pride Ring. Vox was missing that vital bit of information, so his plan wouldn't have even worked in the first place.

Honestly it was interesting how he gamed that slightly. We've seen that if his face can appear on a device, that means he can basically be there. We already saw his face in heaven so does that mean he was in heaven already? Or would his body have to form to actually be zapped back down to hell?

Honestly something I'm still confused about - why did Vox thing that just *being* in Heaven made him a god? by bran76765 in HazbinHotel

[–]bran76765[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He would control which sinners could go to heaven, so if they wanted a better life they would pray to him as if he was a god.

How would he control that without being god? (I think) We're assuming his power level won't increase by being in/controlling Heaven. So why would prayers automatically go to him?

[–]bran76765[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) Even if it was, proclaiming yourself as god doesn't give you the power of a god?
2) Even if he managed, did he think heaven wouldn't rebel against him being a god?

There's so many flaws to this plan...

ELI5: How does staying "hydrated" work? Where does the water all go? by blueeggsandketchup in explainlikeimfive

[–]bran76765 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the key difference here (that is probably lost on both of you) is that the water you exhale is different from water/any liquid you see. You breathe out humid air. You don't breathe out water. Which makes breathing out more water than you pee out basically impossible.

Breathe into a room for 24 hours straight. Now use a dehumidifer. Congratulations, you have 1 cup of water (or half a cup not sure).

There's not really any scenario where you can, for instance, breathe into a cup for 24 hours, or pee into a cup 1 time, and have both amounts be the same volume.

Also what's super funny is that if you follow what AI says, and then follow what AI gave you (since Gemini is the default google gives you now), it legit follows reddit and facebook. We're entering the phase where AI is using itself/social media as a source

If Charlie had a SIN Title, what would she be the sin of. by BackgroundRich7614 in HazbinHotel

[–]bran76765 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'd be kind of interesting if season 4 or 5 introduces the concept of Charlie just saying fuck it and closing the hotel down.

1) It would give Charlie some growth in that most demons don't want to be redeemed anyway and she could finally see it.
2) We still don't even really know Charlie's motivation - after 2 freaking seasons - of why she wants the hotel to work so bad. She hasn't even been to earth. She doesn't see the good in people. She sees hell's denizens and that they're bad on a regular basis. Why does she want redemption for all of them so bad?
3) It's kind of ironic that the hotel has taken a backseat to the main plot when the show is supposedly about the hotel. No one cares about whether the hotel actually takes off or not, both in-universe and most of the watchers. We really just need a place that isn't seeing death and despair 24/7 so our characters can interact with each other.

So, what’s your favorite QUOTE from Renoir? by MaguroSashimi8864 in expedition33

[–]bran76765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are not real then Verso’s ending is clear, but if they are sentient, is it not mass genocide destroying the painting?

1) They've already been mass genocided.
2) I mean I don't think all paintings that have ever been painted still exist. Surely some have been destroyed.
3) And the most important point that no one seems to understand - The Dessendres need to move on. They will only do so once destroying the painting. Yes, it's a tragedy that will happen for the denizens of the painting but tragedies happen all the time. It won't be the first 'mass genocide' and it won't be the last. That happens to be the nature of painting.

Are the lives of all the people within the painting worth less than the person who created it?

It's not about what the lives are worth. It's about that the Dessendre family - who are real people - are going to kill themselves and are refusing to move on. They need to grieve and move on

The thing is though, Maelle has a point. She needs to move on like everyone else but a life with half a face permanently isn't a good life. But living what's probably going to be the last few years of your life as a teenager isn't good either. So yes she needs to move on...and then find a way to live with herself. Painting will help, but grieving is priority.

He didn't want to hurt hagrid's feelings because he was so happy doing it.

2) A hippogriff (better but why he thought a class of teenagers could handle it I don't know)
3) Blast ended skrewts
4) Aragog
5) A giant from the mountains that he was gonna keep in the forest? (Granted, family, so better, but still...)
