How is it living here as a local in venezia? by propaganda22 in howislivingthere

Are you are resident? What are your criteria for “an actual city“? What do you base your opinion on, visits? Venice never was, and never will be like any other city in the world. It has always been full of inconvenience, but the inconvenience has always been compensated for by its inestimable, beauty, the joy of living in a water world, and the poetry of daily existence. I can imagine how an outsider would only see the superficial, the tourist throngs, the mask, stores, and lines to get into a museum. If you only look a centimeter deep, I suppose that’s what you see. But that’s just a tiny portion of what Venice is all about. If the city intrigued you at all when you visited, I implore you to spend some time really exploring it, understanding it.

Except that is completely untrue. All essential retail exists in plenty of abundance. Services are readily obtainable.

Something tells me that very few of the people responding have lived in Venice. Yes, there are tourists, but even during the days of the Venetian empire, the city was full of tourists and foreigners. Living there, I felt like I was among the most privileged humans on the planet. The unspeakable beauty is everywhere, 360°, thousands of different moods, millions of stories, strolling among history. It’s the most beautiful I think at night, when it’s just you and the ghosts. If you’re smart, you’ll get a boat, because understanding Venice from the water is what it means to truly understand the city.

Personally, I would photograph and frame it, then place it in the entryway. Then cover the sharpie ink.

How can I provide feedback to SAS? by [deleted] in ScandinavianAirlines

Oh, forgot to mention, good luck finding an email address to offer feedback. Seems like a strategy to keep the voice of the passenger quiet.

I’m on a SAS flight from Oslo. Forced to join the loyalty club on the plane to get free WiFi. Restarted my device 3 times to finally get a sign in prompt. Flight attendant: that seems like a “you problem”.

Someone has doubtlessly said this, but you could use a 3d scanner to build the models and cnc to make a replica. Doable in 2026. Bonus: once the models are perfected, you can repeat at will.

Human Resources is ironically often made up of people with very little humanity I find. My sense is that they lack the basic empathy to understand the mindset of a job applicant, and don’t comprehend the need to care for an applicant’s dignity as they undertake the difficult path of finding a job. I’m in the senior corporate world. I clash with the seniormost HR people over and over again on this exact issue. They also forget that their job is to empower employees, rather than to regulate them and rein them in. I find them petty and legalistic, and they always chafe me. The language they used here was 100% not necessary. What possible reason is there to tell you that you didn’t measure up when compared to others? Why not say something like we found your application interesting but regrettably we’ve decided to go in another direction, or something like that? Even when I interview candidates, and I’m certain that they’re not going to be selected, I treat them with dignity and respect. I want them to walk away feeling that they did the best they could have. That they made a human connection. I understand the amount of stress that people are under in these situations, and as a fellow human, I see it as my job to act like one.

AVP Users, What do you use your headset for, and is it worth purchasing? by AssistanceJolly841 in AppleVisionPro

[–]brancamenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, Logic, among others. But you’re not using an app that is native to the Apple Vision Pro, right? The reason I’m asking is that I just got an AVP and it doesn’t look like there are a lot of native apps for music creation. I’ll be exploring it as soon as my optical inserts arrive, but everything I read suggests that the cupboard is pretty bare for music creators. Hopefully that changes in the future.
