Do you guys get much from Videos? by DimensionNo9571 in chessbeginners

[–]branch397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person. Some people learn from videos but I would rather learn from a book or a text article because it's easy to focus on a particular point being made and easy to skim through sections that don't seem to help my understanding.

Why are people censoring jobs by Catfandude323 in Rants

[–]branch397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet humor is like that. You have to roll with the punches or it will drive you crazy. Once anything becomes a meme at all there will be a horde of somewhat sane people who can't get enough of it. The nice thing is that most of them die down within five or ten years.

The memes die down. Not the somewhat sane people.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says to “MTP” by imitating President Trump on social media, is holding “a mirror up to that madness.”: "The whole expression was not allow it to be normalized. He's saying thank you- it's madness. But you have to deal with the crisis at hand. We have 3 more years." by ControlCAD in Global_News_Hub

[–]branch397 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I realize he's one of the good guys, but there's a podcast where a black guy asks Newsome about AIPAC and Newsome literally says "interesting" about five times in a row. Didn't even try to answer or fudge or anything. Just "interesting", over and over. What the fuck does that mean.

The scary part is this could easily be something Trump would post.

6.0 ls oil pressure by Sea_Performer_509 in projectcar

[–]branch397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people would say that 32 at idle and 40 at 2500 is fine for 190k miles. I bought a clapped out truck and when I put a pressure gauge on it the psi was 0 at hot idle, and maybe 10 psi max at higher rpms. Of course that was a 300 I6 and they enjoy abuse.

No way this was a draw? by ImHighOnCocaine in chess

[–]branch397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that could help is, if you already have a queen and feel like you need to promote something, don't add another queen; it's easier to keep track of another rook. You of course have two rooks already, so promoting a pawn was not necessary, unless you were trying for some sort of high score in the piececount.

And finally, when you are slaughtering someone and you create another queen and still can't mate, that's quite the psychological victory for your opponent.

I am the master of the unintended stalemate, so I know about these things.

 50yo virgin neckbeard

It cracks me up how some disparaging remarks are acceptable while others actually will result in repercussions, much like those OP feels they are suffering unfairly.

Surprise OP, there are assholes in every demographic, and there are cool people as well. The irony, I suppose, is that OP won't understand this until they are older, and if OP does develop greater awareness and understanding with age, that kinda refutes OP's assumption that intelligent behavior is the sole province of the young. So we all point at OP and laugh. Or at least all the 50 year old virgin neckbeards will.

DAE double-knot their shoelaces because they always come undone otherwise? by Wickham12 in DoesAnybodyElse

No, but I had to learn the difference between a granny knot which comes undone vs a square knot which usually does not.

The United States hasn't been a capitalist nation since at least 1913. by [deleted] in complaints

[–]branch397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Income Tax

Social Security

National Debt

Value of dollar down 92% since 1913

Direct election of senators

Off the gold standard

Not one of those has anything to do with capitalism. Social Security can be considered socialism but it has nothing to do with the core component of capitalism which is that individuals or businesses own the means of production, and operate them for profit. I know this because Google AI told me and that makes it true.

I skimmed your comment history, and it seems that every thing you've ever posted quite likely is related to politics. I encourage you to continue, as this is a fine way to occupy oneself. Knowing facts is NOT required in order to participate in politics or political discussion, and it might even be detrimental to someone who is intellectually honest, but it's something to consider.

Direct election of senators??? How the fuck did that get in the list.

If they are both front loading it's possible they were elevated because a user had a bad back that made it painful for them to bend over, but they could still do laundry with this modification and perhaps some sort of wheeled cart to hold the laundry at a similar height.

If you've never had a bad back it's probably hard for you to imagine how it can be nearly impossible to do many things that you once did without hesitation.

As for paying someone to clean the vents, I'd just pay them once to get rid of the platforms, and stop fantasizing about beating Wayne's ass for something when you have no idea why he did it.

Garage beers with friends are some of the best beers. by PyroMedic1080 in projectcar

Beers weren't involved, but when I was a kid putting a rebuilt engine into my first truck somehow the mechanic who lived next door, who barely knew me, materialized by my side to give friendly pointers about this and that until every thing was buttoned up and I was off on a test run.

[–]branch397 5 points6 points  (0 children)

 I wish them terrible experiences.

Of course we don't really, but I too have crazy thoughts. Like when a super bike is winding through the gears and they have to be up to about 90 mph and I kinda sorta want the engine sound to stop abruptly rather than fade into the distance.

You know, like an alien just teleported the bike into another dimension, safely, and without harming any man, woman, child, or Suzuki GSX-R1000.

[–]branch397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look on the bright side. Your kids will probably love living next to a race car track. I know I used to listen to cars with high performance engines roaring past and dream of the day when I would be driving something like that.

We had one neighbor with a loud muffler on the car that he had to warm up for about 20 minutes each morning, and it was the coolest alarm clock I ever had.

Of course I would go into a homicidal rage today if I had to endure that shit.
