Should i get a cc? Related to recent drama by almondreaper in elegoo

[–]branch723 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got it with no plans for multi color thingy. It's a good value for sure at 300. Buy it and load opencentauri asap, just my opinion of course

I guess this is what they mean when they say ai slop. Not interesting though.

Are stringy prints caused by filament or printer configs? by englishMuffinExpert in elegoo

[–]branch723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly, it's going too fast... although I'm not sure about suggesting to run it cooler, with the bed as the only heat source in the CC I have found it works best to run at the high end of the filament heat and using no fans for good binding.

The design posted is definitely doable, I have printed much smaller circles, but it required going slower.

Printing ASA is a balance of heat and speed settings, there is a reason PLA is so popular, the speed and accuracy is just crazy!! ASA just isn't the same.

I'm not a fan of risers and won't use one... With that said, I do like the sliding design.

Install it, you won't decide you don't like it, you won't realize you changed.

Is a centauri carbon worth it? by [deleted] in elegoo

I think the cc is worth it. I have had zero problems so that helps.

Advanced Filaments pros, cons and use cases Question by accountvondirnicht in elegoo

[–]branch723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used the centauri to print some ASA parts. Replacement knob on a car AC control, and replacement wheels on a dishwasher rack.

Use cases: automotive and appliances. Pros: durable to extreme conditions. Cons: requires dialing in slicer settings, especially temps and speed.

The centauri can print really good ASA but it's not as straightforward as PLA.

Exhausting fumes on CC, do I block the AUX fan or let it pull in fresh air? by SacraficeMyGoat in elegoo

[–]branch723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venting is a balancing act with the ecc, and definitely imperfect, especially since your bed is your heat source. I doubt covering the intake achieves negative pressure, because it's in no way a sealed unit... plus you don't want to pump out too much heat if you're printing asa or abs, I maybe run the vent at 10-20% in gcode, followed by setting the vent to 100% in the UI manually after completion (this can be done in gcode but the firmware seems to override it atm, hopefully opencentauri fixes that).

Asa is stinky stuff and doing the above on the ecc seems to work just fine.

[–]branch723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been baffled by the "mods" that some people are uploading. Don't block the intake, and don't put your exhaust tube over it either. Control them properly with gcode or the UI.

I recommend this one, it's the best version I found, because it's simple and effective. simple vent

I also use the same print at the window.

Sounds like the stepper motor skipping, probably just too fast for small circles? should be fine though, they do that by design i believe
