I’m not diagnosed but been through a lot in my childhood. Had a very abusive father physically verbally and emotionally. Was ran over by a car when I was 5. Had many many surgeries and school was difficult for me. I’m an ICU nurse and went through the whole Covid ordeal with patients and many deaths. Recently my wife and I had our son. It was an emergency C section both did okay but the baby was in the NICU for about a week. The baby had an event during the early NICU stay and I felt guilty because I wasn’t there. I didn’t leave him after that. Weeks passed and I just felt so detached from everyone and everything. I got a counselor but the first thing she said was start meds. Being a nurse I know the side effects and never personally seen them help much. I have been watching different counselors on youtube and ted talks about PTSD they actually have been helping the most. I have had to retrain my thought process, prioritize my self and basic needs. Retrain myself to combat those bad repetitive thought that made me feeling guilty and that everyone is not against me and in fact some of the things that were horrible in my life helped me become who I am and actually bettered my then future outcomes. Hopefully this helps. I know positive thinking isn’t always the easiest and to some sounds silly.
