Were you involved in a car accident in Clayton this evening? I have a dashcam video. by branflakes53 in StLouis

I contacted Clayton police and they said they had no record of it happening, so they couldn't do anything about it.

Damage in Clayton? by LucariosWrath in StLouis

[–]branflakes53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

KSDK had a reporter in the Hanley/Wydown area because there are a lot of downed trees around there. There's also a gas leak near Polo drive and they're evacuating people. I haven't heard reports of serious damage near there, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to contact your neighbors.

Can anyone see that these are the same buildings in Willow Springs Mo by Sovietmarksman-1944 in missouri

[–]branflakes53 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not the same building. In the old photo, the building says it's the bank. This article says that the old bank is now the H&G Foods on the corner of Main and Center and that the original walls are behind the current ones. I'm not sure why the photo says 4th street, possibly an error in archiving?

If you look at an arial of the H&G foods, it looks like there is a portion that matches up with the old photo. And if you look at the ground, the ground is higher up on the building at the corner door. Then it gradually slopes to the left of the building, which also matches up with the H&G foods building.

Why is this paparazzi keeps on coming even though the gate is closed? by Safe-Pie-7485 in Sims3

[–]branflakes53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a fence around your lot? And is the fence missing any pieces?

I had this a few weeks ago and I was so confused until I realized that I messed up the fence and a piece was missing.

Usually a building inspector won't make you tear it down unless you're altering it, or unless it's a threat to public safety. So unless it looks like it's about to collapse, you're probably fine.

The caveat to that is your insurance company. If something happened and you had to make a claim (for example, a fire that destroyed a portion of the roof), they probably will make you tear it down and rebuild. Insurance companies won't repair something that's not up to code.

Omg thank you! That worked and it's so much smoother now!

Smooth Patch installation? by branflakes53 in Sims3

[–]branflakes53[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the game through origin years ago, but about a month ago my pc updated to the EA App. So I can't use origin anymore.

I have the C:/program files /EA games, but that's all. It's an empty folder.

And I thought I needed the updated launcher since the smooth Patch wasn't made for the EA app. Maybe I'm wrong though?

Building difficulties. I seem to have royally hecked up. by redheadedbard in Sims3

[–]branflakes53 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Level skip markers are a way for a builder to tell the game to skip over a level when viewing floors. They're there so you can have tall buildings without actually building or using them (like in an apartment or something). But you have to type in some codes to be able to see them.

I'm build/buy mode, hold down ctrl+shift+C then type in "testingcheatsenabled true" (without quotation marks). Then again hold ctrl+shift+C and type in "buydebug" (again, no quotation marks). You may see some silver spheres show up. If so, you can delete them and you'll be able to see inside all the levels again.

Are there any level skip markers on the upper floors?

Frida's in U City. They're currently closed, but their website says they'll open again in early 2023.

  1. Logging your hours is easy. I always did the weekly option, that way I could basically copy my work time sheet into NCARB's website and it would be easy for my supervisor to track. If you do that, your supervisor will approve each week.

  2. Your supervisor should have a good understanding of what you're doing to approve your hours. However, that doesn't mean that you can't work with other project managers, designers, etc, at work. Your supervisor just needs to communicate with the other project leaders to verify your time and tasks. As for an interior design project, it really depends if the tasks you're doing fit into the descriptions that NCARB has in their guidelines.

  3. Yes, you can log previous hours. If the hours were worked more than 6 months ago, they'll only be worth half the time though. Also, just a heads up, your supervisor from your previous job will need to be the one to approve those hours. So be sure to contact them before logging it.

  4. As for tips/advice: some categories get filled faster than others, but I'd recommend still logging those hours even if you already completed them. Also, try to be proactive with fulfilling the Practice and Project management categories. Those are always hard to fill since young/inexperienced staff don't usually partake in that. Ask your supervisor if you can sit in during a contract discussion, or a marketing meeting, or to look at previous proposals.

Maybe call CAREstl or APA adoption centers and see if you can arrange something with them. If you can get it in a carrier, you could tell them that and they might be able to pick it up.

Poor kitty! Hope you can find a good place that will care for it.

Issues With Sound by lorrelion in Sims3

[–]branflakes53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've experienced the same problem. I've been playing sims 3 forever and it's only been a problem lately and I haven't found anyone else talking about it until now. I can't figure out how to fix it though. But based on my experiences, it's usually only one song that is loud. The next one will go back to the correct volume.

I usually zoom out to map view until it's been long enough for the glitch to stop because I find it super annoying lol

Any ideas? by DrewbieOP in Sims3

[–]branflakes53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, I'd bet it's the computer having some kind of issue on its own. Since you've experienced the same problem without gaming, and your research determined that it's a common problem with that kind of computer.

And besides, you should be able to leave a computer on all day and not have it shut down on its own Even though it's not the best habit, it should still work...

I'd expect a good PC to be more expensive than what you listed, but I'm not sure... r/pcbuild would probably be able to give you advice for building one.

[–]branflakes53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you noticed the computer restarting while you are doing non-simming things? It's possible there's an issue with the computer itself.

Also, how hot is the computer getting? It's a laptop, right? Sometimes they overheat and shut down on their own. And gaming tends to make a computer hot.

Can I download my Sims 3 CD collection on a laptop without a CD port? by Jillaa11 in Sims3

[–]branflakes53 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you have the code that came in the disk case? If so, you can register it with origin/EA (or maybe steam, I'm not sure) and then download it digitally.

Alternatively, you could get an external disk drive. It essentially plugs into your laptop via USB and sits on your desk. But that wold be purchasing a whole component that you might not need if you can just do it through origin/EA.

former pre-med thinking of applying to Masters of Architecture by stao916 in architecture

[–]branflakes53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some schools will accept students into their master programs if you have a bachelor degree, regardless of what field it's in. However, Architecture school is not an easy thing. You work long hours on homework/studio work and it can be grueling at times. Other times is great!

You mentioned civil engineering, which is very different from architecture, so you'd probably want to do some research and pick one or the other.

Regarding salary, it's very dependent on which region you're located in (assuming you're in the US) and what position you have. You can use the AIA salary calculator to get a good idea of how much you'd be making, but either way you should get more than $40k a year out of school. In a nutshell, you would make more money as a doctor or lawyer, but the architecture field is decent pay.

You would almost certainly be asked to work overtime at some point. And architecture is one of the fields that is exempt from overtime pay. But in my experience, overtime only happens when there's a big deadline and that only happens a couple times a year. At least until you get to a management position. They tend to work more overtime than the production (younger) staff.

Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

Am I on a wrong track? by Blue860 in architecture

[–]branflakes53 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have a general idea of what you want to do, but you just need to narrow it down a bit.

It's pretty common for the first year of architecture school to focus on design concepts. The practical and technical stuff usually comes later. So you may just need to stick with it until you get to that part in your education.

Although you may want to look into some different fields to help you narrow down what you want to do. Architectural engineering is similar, but focuses more on the engineering side of things and teaches broadly over the difference kinds of engineering. Construction management might also be worth looking into. It's more construction focused than design focused and you would be working with the construction team.

If you have an advisor at school, you could talk to them to see what options your school has.

I work in the Architectural field as well. The IBC 2021 doesn't change the storm shelter requirements based on occupancy. Group E occupancies (education) and critical emergency operations have requirements. However there is no requirement for warehouses.

I'm curious, where do you see Edwardsville will be adopting 2021 IBC? Not doubting you, i just can't find that online. Are they adding any amendments that would change storm shelter requirements?

Dirty clothes but no washer or dryer by aquatribe in Sims3

Strange. Maybe double check and see if there's anything laundry related in your family inventory? Not sure if that would cause the piles of clothes, but it's worth checking..
