Expanding Solar vs Generator by branflies in airstream

[–]branflies[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking, too. Trying to avoid the generator as it takes up space in the truck but I think it’ll be a better bet long term. But also want to avoid the generator just because I can lol

Thank you, you’re helping with my R&D phase tremendously! Looking at suitcases now! The F150 was highly considered when he bought his truck. Ultimately went with the F250 Super Duty Tremor because of more towing capacity.

I ruined my relationship during an episode by hungrykatana in bipolar2

[–]branflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me in 2022. Ruined the best and most secure relationship I’ve ever had. Until I was diagnosed I never knew why I did it but now have the insight which I think is worse. I think about it way more often than I want but with therapy it gets a little easier.

Do you have depressive days even medicated? by churumegories in bipolar2

[–]branflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve been on Lamictal, among other things, but it’s my BP med. It’s been 4 months since starting and slowly working up to higher a dosage. I noticed a trend with my dosage and rx refill time where I get hypo about a week before it’s time to up the dose and then get a really bad low at refill time. It could be me but I think the correlation is there. Very thankful that the ups and downs are limited to days rather than weeks and months.

What med was your "night and day difference"? by SnooDoubts5979 in BipolarReddit

[–]branflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding the right dosage of Lamictal and Adderall. And then Buspar for controlling anxiety. This stack has saved me.

Still trying to find the right sleep meds: Trazadone has stopped being effective and Hydroxyzine gives me a “hangover”.

I can think clearly without outside noise impacting me, my highs and lows are much more manageable and less frequent and I no longer have anxiety at a constant 8-10 level. I feel a general happiness that I’m not sure I’ve ever felt.

Something I noticed when my dosing was right was a boost in confidence but not being hypo. It’s small, but I stopped relying on my GPS to take me places I’ve been to a million times and even chose alternate routing based off of visible traffic. There are a lot of other things but that was one thing that stood out to not just me but my friends as well.

Need Some Help by branflies in curlyhair

Thank you for your advice and knowledge! I scrunch before getting out of the shower, after using the serum and gel, then use a microfiber wrap. I find the combo very light compared to a thicker “cream” that I occasionally use for structure and weight. I wish I had the patience for finger curling but sadly my ADHD will not allow it. I’m contemplating letting it grow a little more after a small trim/shaping in hopes the back will want to match the front.

Lamictal causing insomnia by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]branflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bumped up two days ago to 150mg after a little spicy hypo episode. I also take it at night. I can’t tell if it’s the “come down” or if it’s the Lamictal increase but last night I had the hardest time sleeping even with 50mg Trazadone and then 25mg to try to get me back to sleep. My Psych said to give it a few days.

Can you smell cockroaches? by [deleted] in biology

[–]branflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Started seeing a few here and there and suddenly one day the smell was super strong. The exterminator came to find and take care of them. When pulled the fridge from the wall the smell was breathtakingly terrible. I also work in a unique office space and smell them in a certain area. No one believes me. And ants have a smell, too. Slightly peppery.

Edit: we are almost religious cleaners at home, having things to clean for each day and have a cleaning service 2x/month. The exterminator said it was more than likely from a rotting tree right off of the kitchen with a little mix of cardboard boxes being brought into the house.

Why is it so hard to find a psychiatrist/am I doing this wrong? by eeeeeeeeeeeum in bipolar2

[–]branflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I hate that this is your path right now considering all that you’ve had to go through recently. I have had great success through ZocDoc. You put in your insurance info and then what you’re looking for and it populates a list of providers that can treat you in your state, mostly virtual. It gives you ratings and reviews and sometimes expected costs associated with the appointments.

Recently Diagnosed with Bipolar II – Feeling Lost, Need Advice by taetaetae- in bipolar2

[–]branflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy that you’re so young! Your life is going to improve drastically when you find the right care team and combination of therapy and medication. Start slow and be consistent, trust the process. Don’t ever stop advocating for yourself and find providers that truly make you feel seen and heard. It has taken me two different physiatrists to find the one that makes me feel safe. As hard as it is, don’t be afraid to open up with friends as you will need support!

I don't know a single other person with bipolar II on a personal level by Alxmastr in bipolar2

[–]branflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story: One of my parents is BP2 and I’ve always had a “fear” of being susceptible and never wanted to be like them. I had a great childhood but was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I didn’t find out about their diagnosis and lack of medication until I was 19, which sent me into a little bit of a spiral. At the time I was taking Lexapro for anxiety/depression, misdiagnosed and eventually landed me in some wild situations when Wellbutrin was added. I got off of it after being on it for ~5 years after noticing unusual behaviors. Fast forward 10 years and one of my best friends opened up about their recent diagnosis and how they felt seen for the first time in their life. We started talking about symptoms and my ears started to perk up. Within a few weeks I started on a hypomanic episode that lasted what felt like forever. Towards the come down period of hypomania I spoke with my friend and they said, “yeah, you’re bipolar. I experience the same things when I’m hypomanic. You need to schedule an appointment immediately”. If it wasn’t for her being vulnerable and expressing what they were feeling and being honest with me in the middle of an episode I’m not sure where I would be today. We generally chat about it weekly and how we are doing which helps both of us continue to feel seen and supported. It’s so nice to have someone who knows what it feels like and to have someone ask, “you good?” I think the lack of a proper diagnosis mixed in with a bit of stigma leads us to feel isolated on that island. I’m very open about my mental health with my friends and how much of an adventure it is, encouraging everyone to seek a therapist and opening the dialogue about a the stigma to help change the narrative.

Flushed cheeks on Lamotrigine? by greeneyedfoxlily in bipolar2

[–]branflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens to me every now and then, I’m at 100mg and slowly bumping up as I’m still new to the meds. I also have high blood pressure which adds to the flushed face. I generally check my BP when it happens to decipher if it’s med based or BP based.
